Le Bistrot Pierre (Hunters Bar) - Maureen Ridsdale -

Rating:

Have dined at this restaurant a few times and it has been excellent, but last Saturday 25th March we celebrated a family member's 18th birthday. We were a party of 28 on our table. There was 9 people all adults, the food in general, as always, was very good, but the veg is served in 2 small pots (on other occasions we have had 1 pot to share between 2 people). On this occasion we were given 2 of these pots between 9 people.

We asked for more veg and were given one set of these 2 pots. Really disappointed. Think it will be a long time before we visit again. There are too many other excellent restaurants in Sheffield to chose from.

Cosmo (City Centre) - Mick -

Rating:

The place had a nice entrance bar where you could get a drink while you waited to be seated. We had to wait 20 minutes, but we didn't make a reservation beforehand, so we didn't mind.

There was very little choice for vegetarians and no thought had been put into the arrangement of the food. Instead of putting the vegetarian dishes together, they were randomly set out with the meat dishes. There were no labels to indicate which dishes were meat-free and the people I asked barely spoke English. The veggie pizza was in the middle of the meat ones and there was only one serving tool. This place is a vegetarian's worst nightmare!

I planned what I was having before I arrived by looking at the online menu. I was really looking forward to the Saag-Aloe, so I was very disappointed that they didn't have it.

Summary:
Great for meat eaters, a minefield for vegetarians and the food was average quality at best. The place reminded me of school dinners, probably why the kids seemed to love it!

Jaflong (Crookes) - Kevin Nolan -

Rating:

The food is to die for. I had a mixed grill and a balti sauce and then to follow that a nice dessert. The service was friendly. The owner, top guy.

I will be back but I'm only here on business.

Thank you guys.

Italian Kitchen (Sharrow Vale) - Robinson Ford -

Rating:

Fantastic, truly authentic Italian restaurant!

It's fair to say that Ecclesall Road has a really strong selection of eateries, many of which are superb. But if you're looking home-cooked Italian food I feel Italian Kitchen is unrivalled.

We've been using the restaurant ever since it opened. It has always remained faultless. Really tasty food, great atmosphere, exceptional service.

Mama's & Leonie's (City Centre) - Trevor Mangham -

Rating:

A group of six of of us visited this restaurant on the 5th March 2016. Four of us had been before and the other two had never been. We all had differnt meals and without exception the quality was excellent. The two members of our group who had not been before could not believe how good the food was. The service was first-rate as usual.

I am amazed at some of the poor ratings on here and I can only assume that that eating out for some people is based on the image that the restaurant gives out rather than the quality of the food. The food here is great quality, well-cooked and well-served. It is not a jumped-up establishment serving over-priced food in a trendy way with trendy lighting.

Piccolino (City Centre) - Steve Miller -

Rating:

Don't know which restaurant the two-star comments have been to. We have only ever had a fantastic experience each time we have been. I suggest everyone gives this place another try or maybe stop in and get a takeaway.

Cubana (City Centre) - Jane -

Rating:

I've been to Cubana before, so thought it a good place for a birthday night out with an old friend, and it did not disappoint!

The food is so good, we couldn't decide what to have, so went for the set menu. The restaurant was busy and the table wasn't ready on our arrival, but hey, who wants to leave a good party? Our food arrived very quickly though, and the service was impeccable. The bar was busy and the lively music created a lovely atmosphere to round off a memorable evening.

Blue Moon Cafe (City Centre) - Georgette -

Rating:

Have eaten here several times. The food was always very good, with ample portions. Large selection of desserts, too, many of them vegan. The atmosphere is very informal and relaxed, with a '60s vibe. Nice location, beautiful building. I always enjoy eating at the Blue Moon.

Taybarns (Tankersley) - Julie Cartledge -

Rating:

This was my first experience here on a birthday treat on 13th February for my 10-year-old. Most of my family were sitting eating their meals when my 10-year-old collapsed on the floor. The staff were amazing, especially the manager (Jo I think her name was). We are definitely planning a return trip, as my other kids couldn't fault the food nor price.

Sword Dancer (Handsworth) - Clare -

Rating:

Started going here once a week for food, as it is local. It is really nice pub, the staff are all lovely, the food is really nice, and you get plenty for your money. Can't complain about anything. Even the 2 for £7.99 menu you get plenty. We thought the portions might have been small with the price but no, still get loads!

Bishops Coffee House and Bistro (Norton Lees) - Dawn Goddard -

Rating:

I have had many meals & lunches here & have never been disappointed, so I arranged my daughter's baby shower here.

The buffet was amazing & they even catered for the ones with gluten-free allergy. We had a fantastic time. Their service & food was amazing. They put up all the decorations for us, nothing was too much trouble for them.

I would definitely recommend this fabulous place to anyone.

Smoke Barbecue (City Centre) - Janet Kendall -

Rating:

I have made my first visit today to your restaurant, I was very disappointed with the food.

I had the pulled pork. When it came the only thing nice on the plate was the chips. The pulled pork was pink. I was told it was due to how it's cooked. And the side salad, if you can call carrots and lettuce a salad, was bland and boring. I can't believe I paid £27 for chips.

Vito's (Walkley) - Robert -

Rating:

On arrival waiters were great and showed us to our table, we ordered drinks and food.

Starter first was very good. Then two of the main meals out of six were not as described in the menu, so this was mentioned to a waiter, who said nothing can be done. Then the original waiter I must add was great said "no problem, I'll sort it". Meal came and was good.

We finished the meal and got the bill. I took the bill to the bar and spoke to a man who I now know to be the owner, I said that I wasn't very happy regards two people having to dine separately. This was met by attitude (not an apology). He snapped "what was wrong?". I explained and he stated "how do you expect me to cook chicken breast?". I told him stuffed chicken breast ain't flat. He replied "what you think I'm f****** stupid?" and demanded I just pay the bill. I decided that I would give some of the cash and didn't pay for the two dinners.

To be fair the place is nice (top dollar) but food is good apart from stuffed chicken. The owner is a complete mess. A simple apology would have been enough.

Butlers Balti House (City Centre) - Mark Jago -

Rating:

Went to the restaurant today after looking at reviews and was not disappointed. The staff were very helpful and suggested some dishes for us, which were all lovely. We were a party of 6 up for the weekend from near London. My favourite food is curry and this is one of the best we have been to. I highly recommend it.

La Luna (Banner Cross) - Nathan McHale -

Rating:

Booked a table for 10 for a friend's 40th. Turned up on time but were told the table wasn't quite ready. Sent back out in the rain and returned 15 minutes later as requested, to be told they had doubled-booked.

Manager couldn't be reached on the phone. Wasted over £100 in taxi fares and god knows how much on drinks that we ended up giving away.

Absolutely disgusting service!

Castle Inn (Bradway) - Janice Sampson -

Rating:

I had the linguine, my husband had the sea bass.

Both dishes were an absolute delight. The rose was a reminder of how refreshing wine can be. My husband would eat the New York cheesecake until it came out of his ears!

All served with charm, charisma and aplomb.

We will certainly be strolling down the road regularly from now on.

Very well done to all the team at "The Castle", Bradway.

Bowshaw Inn (Dronfield) - Lyn Hammond -

Rating:

We went today for a family meal. The service was excellent, but the food was poor. Our previous experience has been good, but today very poor. The beef was fatty and stringy, vegetables undercooked, you hardly got any meat, but in a way I was pleased about that.

Phoenix Inn (Ridgeway) - Les Grantham -

Rating:

A few years ago a woman was running this pub. It turned into a chaotic kindergarten, then another manager took over and got it back on track.

But I have been in today. No sign of the manager, and unruly children are back. If the turnover for this pub is down then tell the manager he can't have it both ways. If he wants adults and disciplined kids to have a civilised lunch he must come out of the cupboard and be aware of what will drive the trade away.
