India Garden (Heeley) - Danielle -

Rating:

Excellent place to eat, love this place. Staff all friendly and welcoming.

Was my birthday and they brought me two flaming shots, on the house. Food comes quickly and is amazing.

One of the best little eating places I've been to. Been back a few times now.

Cow And Calf (Grenoside) - Tony Willows -

Rating:

Mixed review from an eater's opinion and then a drinkers opinion!

Visited in a small party of 4 for a meal on a Sunday lunch time. I could not praise the Sunday lunch enough - home-cooked, friendly staff on the bar and waitressing, the chef, who I now know is the landlady, is fantastic and clearly knows what she's doing.

The pub itself is a typical old-fashioned pub which is why I liked my first visit and came back with friends for a Saturday evening of drinks. Unfortunately my second experience here was not so good! I want to make it clear that I still got the same friendly service from the staff but the landlord is a drunk. His language, his attitude towards the staff I could hardly believe what I was seeing. Later in the night he told me and a friend, rather drunkenly I may add, how he is going to be area manager of the Samuel Smith's franchise in Yorkshire, and all I have to say is that times must be very hard for Humphrey Smith if this is true!

Lokanta (Broomhill) - Gillian Walker -

Rating:

Although my 4 friends enjoyed their meal, mine was awful. How chicken can be hard defeats me. And raw potatoes passed off as chips? Even the roast pepper was stringy.

Would not recommend.

Mamma Mia Pepe (Hillsborough) - C Jay -

Rating:

Absolutely terrible, worst restaurant I've ever been to! Small and cramped, it is like being sat in someone's living room with tasteless cheap and dated decor, surrounded by complete strangers sat 8 inches away on every side. So disappointed!

The food was not even decent. Tasteless and small portions, no sides with your main, so if you order lasagne, that is all you get?! Like a cheap greasy spoon cafe but with "Italian" food.

Don't waste your time or money. Travel the extra 3/4 miles to the city centre to a real Italian restaurant!

Mamma Mia Pepe (Hillsborough) - Jess Shaw -

Rating:

I have visited this restaurant many times following a recommendation from a friend and we have never been disappointed.

The staff are lovely, the atmosphere is so cosy and the food is always great.

If you haven't tried this place, I would certainly recommend that you do, you won't be disappointed.

Mamma Mia Pepe (Hillsborough) - Helen Charleworth -

Rating:

Five of us went to this restaurant on Friday the 24th January 2014. Not very good service from the waitress. The starters from the specials menu was lovely. The lamb for our main meal was beautiful but the sauce was very sweet and overpowering. Four of us were made to share a small silver bowl of a few carrots, cabbage, and potatoes.

One of the ladies found a hair in her meal and was offered something else from the menu but declined, so a £2 deduction was offered from her bill.

I had high expectations for the meal, as I have eaten here in the past. We were told that the previous owners no longer work there. If that's true then I now know why we had such a disappointing meal. We wont be returning.

For five of us who had starters, main meal, 2 bottles of house wine and a lemonade our bill topped over £100.

Oh and you don't get any pasta with the pasta meal?

Amraj (Beighton) - Suzan Hawkins -

Rating:

We used to go to the Amraj at Drakehouse and decided to give the new one a try.

Amazing - the service and the food were wonderful. We realised how much we have missed the Amraj and will certainly be going back again and again. When the pickle tray arrived we were asked if we wanted any others, as they did have more.

There is no licence to drink alcohol but this didn't bother us. Plenty of car parking space, although perhaps a little more lighting in the car park is needed.

Really relaxed atmosphere. Lovely, can't wait to go again.

La Dolce Vita (Crosspool) - Eri Sen -

Rating:

It's a simple family-run restaurant; the food is simple but truly Italian. Home-made cakes are fantastic and we loved the pizza, too!

I've been few times and really enjoyed, it's like being back in my gran's house

Bear in mind it doesn't pretend to be posh but "real"!

Marco at Milano (Millhouses) - Eri Sen -

Rating:

We were there 2 weeks ago, and back few years ago. Same excellent service and food.

I'm Italian and I can assure you this is a very Italian-like and style restaurant.

Cerrone's (Ecclesfield) - Carol Hadley -

Rating:

First time visit even though I've lived in Ecclesfield for 4 years.

Absolutely amazing first-class food. I had the smoked salmon for starters, which was light, tasty and the best I've ever tasted. For main we had the Italian risotto, which was out of this world.

I am kicking myself I've suffered through terrible meals out when Cerrone's is on my doorstep.

Had the dark chocolate liqueur to finish at £3.50 each but was worth it.

Excellent waitress and an outstanding chef.

Can't wait to go back.

Cow And Calf (Grenoside) - Lynn Smart -

Rating:

On our way to Grenoside Crematorium in a group of 4 from the Midlands. Called in for a meal and drinks and we were not disappointed. Very friendly welcome. Enormous portions.

I settled for spinach and salmon fishcakes with delicious home-made thick chips and peas, hubby had fish and chips... almost the size of a small whale!

Two others opted for chicken, chips and salad.

We couldn't leave without dessert... Three of us had sticky toffee pudding and one had rhubarb and apple pie. Absolutely delicious!

We all had 2 drinks each and were amazed with the bill. Less than £50. Will make a trip here in the future.

Uncle Sam's (Sharrow) - Peter Todd -

Rating:

I brought my two girls to the restaurant on Tuesday 9th January at about 5:30pm. We ordered our food, which came in a reasonable time.

The food was very average, but not my complaint.

My complaint was the horrendous service. There were only three tables on and the waitresses sat at the table next to the service hatch with customers they obviously knew, as they were laughing and joking with them and they were given excellent service, whilst the rest of the customers suffered.

We sat with empty plates for fifteen minutes before I eventually got up, went to them and asked them to clear our plates, and could my girls have ice cream, as I needed to get them home.

When we eventually left I noticed from the corner of my eye the sign advertising kids eat free when an adult eats. That's another story.

Sort it out, not good enough.

Florentine (Ranmoor) - Graham Barker -

Rating:

Decided to try the Florentine a couple of weeks after it had opened with my wife. Previously a Marston's restaurant known as the Fullwood Inn, we had in the past had some very nice meals there. The Florentine is primarily a pizza restaurant but you can get an expensive steak there if you require.

The pizzas are comparably priced with other restaurants in the Sheffield area. We both decided to try the signature dish, The Florentine Special. We didn't have to wait too long for it to arrive. It was quite large, looking like a dried-out wash leather, and although I have never tasted a wash leather I suspect it tasted like one. In the centre in minute quantities were roasted bacon, pulled pork, meatballs, parsnip crisps, caramelised apple, onion, mozzarella and a smear of tomato sauce. All served on a wooden board. Not the best pizza that I have tasted.

Having said that the service was brilliant. The waitresses were friendly and polite, although a little inexperienced.

Bowshaw Inn (Dronfield) - Carol Timm -

Rating:

Excellent food and outstanding service. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. We would strongly recommend a visit, you will not be disappointed.

Thank you to all the staff.

Bay of Bengal (Gleadless) - Claire Stagg -

Rating:

I have been to this restaurant twice. I found the whole experience without fault.

The premises are clean and tidy. The staff are very friendly and professional. The food was lovely with a great menu choice. The price is extremely reasonable.

I shall be ordering my New Year's Eve takeaway this year. I shall definitely return in the new year.

Coal Grill and Bar (Meadowhall Shopping Centre) - Tracy Caldecott -

Rating:

Me and my husband ate at the restaurant yesterday and although the place was very busy the service was excellent.

We had an above average wait time for starters, but when they arrived they were well worth the wait, along with an apology from the waitress.

The main course was also fantastic. As our waitress was nearing the end of her shift a polite young gentleman then took over, who was equally as pleasant as all the other staff that we spoke to.

A very nice touch at the end of our meal was a discount to reflect the waiting times on the food.

We will definitely return to eat here when we are next at Meadowhall.
