Balti King (Broomhill) - Lisa -

Rating:

A great place to eat. Quick service even at busy times. Very friendly staff who always remember you.

There is a huge menu choice, and the food is very good. If you want your dish more or less spicy just let them know. Nothing is too much trouble.

Will be telling my friends and family that Balti King is the place to go for a great meal.

Balti King (Broomhill) - Ian -

Rating:

Used to come here all of the time, and then suddenly stopped, always too busy with work, etc...

However, I went this evening and was reminded of how fantastic it is! The staff are so friendly and welcoming, they always remember me and my friend. Great atmosphere, great food, we had the lamb tikka balti and the chicken korma - amazing.

I definitely won't be leaving it so long next time!

Angel Inn (Holmesfield) - Steve Marklew -

Rating:

We stumbled upon this pub quite by chance a few months ago. Called in on spec one Friday night and had a most fantastic meal.

We've been back several times and the food has all been top quality. The menu is changed quite often. I'd rate the food as some of the best I've ever had.

The staff are very friendly, and efficient.

We've had Sunday lunch there 3 times now, and the meat is always well cooked (quite rare beef) and the rum and chocolate mousse is to die for.

They are always turning away bookings, but the restaurant never feels over full.

An absolute gem of a place.

Vito's (Walkley) - Nichola Simpson -

Rating:

We are regulars at Vito's and we always find that the service is outstanding, the staff can't do enough to help you. There are no words in the English language that can describe the quality and amazing flavours of the food.

In the 8 years we have been visiting Vito's, we have always found every mouthful to be the most enjoyable. Vito produces the sort of food where you delay eating the last mouthful because you don't want it to end...

A must try for anyone enjoying fine Italian cuisine.

Chez Lahlou (Walkley) - Lee Passmore -

Rating:

After the rave reviews I have heard about this restaurant I can't express how disappointed we were. I've been to better truck stops on the A1.

Don't order a starter, you wouldn't believe the portion size! The amount of food waste is incredibly distasteful in this day and age.

The food is ordinary at best. Friendly staff and great coffee.

Sette Colli (Hillsborough) - Suzanne -

Rating:

Fantastic small, cosy restaurant. Always busy at weekends. Good service and excellent food. We have been going frequently and have never been disappointed.

Wagamama (City Centre) - Jasmine -

Rating:

I love it here. Lightning fast service. The food is lovely, although sometimes a little cold. There's a large choice and it's all freshly cooked, virtually in front of you.

I'd recommend anyone to go here at least once!

Vito's (Walkley) - Alex -

Rating:

We paid a visit to Vito's last month. The restaurant looks very much like a back street restaurant in Italy - warm and welcoming.

We start with bruschetta al tartufo and pecorino cheese. For main we decide to go for the special board. Wild boar was fantastic. Wine - we had a bottle of tignanello 1998 at £85 - very good value if you know your wine. If not there is plenty more to choose from at budget price.

Fantastic we will go back very soon.

Thanks for looking after us.

Casanova Pizzeria Ristorante (Crookes) - Rima -

Rating:

I had been to Casanova's a number of times, for various occasions, and it was great every time. It's close to home, so no need for taxi!

The food was tasty and the portions were big (I have tried garlic bread, garlic mushrooms, different pastas and risottos), the waiters were helpful and not rushing.

The food is not too expensive, but it can add up if you go for a three course meal and a few glasses of wine. But I suppose, it's up to you what and how much of food/drinks you order.

I'm planning to book a table there again for my fiance's birthday!

Grayson's (Beauchief) - John Dunkley -

Rating:

The service was attentive and the food tasty. Portions are manageable and I left feeling comfortable.

My wife's steak was really tasty and my Barnsley chop was good, too. Vegetables were well-done, too.

The salted chocolate and olive oil sweet is to die for! (But looks a bit lost on the huge plate).

With a couple of drinks and coffee we only paid £55, which was good value for the quality offered.

Chez Lahlou (Walkley) - Alan and Carol Clarke -

Rating:

We've been going to the Chez Lahlou for over 20 years. Food is fantastic, freshly prepared - don't order a starter as portions are generous. What you don't eat you can take home.

Very friendly and cosy. We avoid Friday and Saturday nights as it gets busy but other nights are very relaxed. We love it!

We agree toilet is a bit quirky!

Rafters (Ranmoor) - John Dunkley -

Rating:

Weird that a place that has such a solid and well-deserved reputation as among the best in the city has only one review.

We treat ourselves to a meal there from time to time and have never been disappointed. However, it is essential to plan ahead, as reservations are hard to obtain!

Cross Scythes (Totley) - John Dunkley -

Rating:

The evening meal was a pleasant surprise, with excellent service and very tasty cooking.

This is not just a chain pub-restaurant; it is a significant notch or two up from that in both quality and price, which still represents decent value.

Little India (Gleadless) - Susan Askew -

Rating:

This is a small but comfortable restaurant. The food was the best I have had for a long time. The staff were helpful and very polite, without being overpowering. The service was excellent.

We are booking again for the weekend for another birthday party.

Mama's & Leonie's (City Centre) - Adam Hodson -

Rating:

After reading some of the earlier reviews I thought it was my duty to write of the wonderful experience that my fiancee and I had at Mama's & Leonies (26/02/2011).

We hadn't booked or even heard of the place before so we had no expectations. However, when we got into the restaurant at lunch time we knew straight away that it was a popular choice.

The waitresses were welcoming and although they had hardly any seats free they soon accommodated the two of us. We sat upstairs and thought the atmosphere was brilliant and decor matched a somewhat cosy but friendly ambience.

I had the goat's cheese ciabatta and my fiancee had a jacket potato, both of which were very good for the price. Although they did bring the wrong ciabatta at first, this was not a problem and the right one soon came out and they even docked the drinks we had off the bill. Something that is probably a must for all milkshake lovers is their strawberry milkshake, which was very nice!

All in all a very good restaurant and will be going back there very soon for dinner!

Patoo (Hunters Bar) - Steve Williamson -

Rating:

Had a meal for the first time at Patoo. It was early evening and fairly quiet when we arrived. We were shown to a table and given complimentary prawn crackers to start.

The menu and wine selections were first-class, as was the service. The food was excellent and reasonably-priced. We were not rushed at any time during the meal, and the background music was relaxing. We will definitely be back.

It was early Saturday evening when we arrived, and it was beginning to fill as the evening went on. Recommend booking a table.

BB's (City Centre) - Jeremy Hunt -

Rating:

Went there for a work's do recently. We were seated upstairs. I heard it was crowded up there but what I saw was ridiculous - 32 people in 3 separate groups were herded in to a tiny room about the size of my living room and kitchen!

The service was OK but the food was terrible. I have had much better Italian food just around the corner from BB's. Was disappointed after hearing good reports about it.

Will not be going again!
