Marco's (Woodseats) - Kay Kennedy -
Rating:
Go to this restaurant very hungry! Come out feeling extremely full!
We have been a few times and never been disappointed. The food fantastic and so is the warm, friendly atmosphere.
I would recommend the starter spare ribs, calzone pizza and lasagne. These are my favourites but every meal looks wonderful and you can also take your own wine.
Give it a whirl, I'm sure you will end up going again as it is also value for money

Great food as usual, this was our 4th trip, but your waiting staff could do with some training. To say they were miserable was an understatement.
Overall, I'd rate the restaurant 4.5 for food (really nice and freshly cooked) but 1.5 for service.

Dined on the 11th February. Myself & the wife both had the Valentine's three course menu. Service & food were spot on.

Old Red Lion (Grenoside) - John Marsh -
Rating:
Four of us went to the Old Red Lion (Grenoside) on Friday 11th February after hearing the food was good. Have to say we were not disappointed.
The menu has a good range through sandwiches and lite bites, to grills and specials. Our party had two starters: garlic mushrooms on toast and a goat cheese tart. Our mains included two haddock, one lamb rump and one venison. Two desserts followed and all the food was excellently cooked and well presented.
With a few drinks and bottle of wine our bill came to £92.A little pricey by pub standards but treat it more like a restaurant for food quality. Would we go again? Definitely.

BB's (City Centre) - Michelle -

We go to BB's regularly and always receive the same excellent service and food. The menu offers a lot of variety and the specials are always excellent.
They are fantastic with children, too! Brilliant food, staff and atmosphere.

Ego (City Centre) - Cathryn Boyle -
Rating:
We first went to Ego for lunch last year for a friend's birthday. Their Tuscan meatballs were delicious.
We returned a few weeks later and I decided to have them again. Less tasty, and it was clear that less care had been taken in making the dish. However, my partner asked to try them and liked them so next time we visited he ordered them.
This time they were truly terrible. The pasta had been pre-cooked and revived in unsalted water and was dreadful. The meatballs were hard and small and nasty and the sauce had been made from little more than cheap tinned tomatoes. Ugh!
We won't be going back - they are clearly trying to save money and think that nobody will notice after a couple of drinks.

Viva Tequila (Gleadless) - Joanne Brown -
Rating:
The food here is entirely average, and although the staff were friendly, we were sat by the toilets, although the restaurant was nearly empty, and we felt very rushed.
We were on a night out and yet were only in the restaurant for 45 minutes maximum. We shall never go back.

Patoo (Hunters Bar) - Paul Sutton -
Rating:
Decided to try Patoo as a Valentine's treat for my partner, as she is vegetarian and they offer a relatively large selection of veggie dishes. I booked 2 weeks in advance, as I was aware it would probably be very busy, as it was the Saturday before Valentine's Day.
We arrived at 7:30PM and were promptly seated to a nicely-set table with complimentary spicy prawn crackers. There was a wide variety of wines and spirits to choose from and two Thai beers (Singha and Chang).
The food menu has a good selection of reasonably-priced beef, pork, chicken, duck, seafood and vegetarian options. I decided on hand-dived scallops to start and grilled giant king prawns for my main, while my partner had spring rolls with sweet chilli dip and tofu and vegetables in sweet and sour sauce.
We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals and were looking forward to dessert. The table was cleared and 2 small complimentary chocolates were placed on our table, we asked for the dessert menu and the waiter simply told us, whilst pointing at his watch, "there is no time for dessert, next table arrives soon". Let's just say we were not too happy about this, especially considering we had only been at the restaurant for an hour! I paid up and told the manager I was pretty disappointed, which was met by a brief 'Sorry, it's Valentine's weekend'.
We probably won't be going back due to the way in which we were treated, which is a shame considering the quality of the food and speed of service.

Balti King (Broomhill) - Terry Radley -
Rating:
Last night we had the most amazing curry I think we have ever had in Sheffield. The food was extremely fresh, a great choice of menu and very reasonably priced.
The staff and manager were extremely polite and friendly and we did not have to wait too long for the food.

All Siam (Hunters Bar) - Lynsay Petrauskas -
Rating:
I agree! I ate here two weeks ago. My husband and I ate on a Monday evening and were surprised at how busy the restaurant was.
The food was delicious, as the previous reviewer has mentioned the portions weren't huge but definitely sufficient and not overpowering just really tasty!
We didn't book and I would definitely book on a weekend. Will be returning!

Coal Grill and Bar (Meadowhall Shopping Centre) - Toni Arnold -
Rating:
At first glance, the restaurant seems to offer a good variation of food on the menu, which is why it attracts.
However, the service was one of the worst I've experienced (over 20 minutes to get a drink at the bar and more than 45 minutes to actually be seated!). Have to add that half the cocktails were not available, as they didn't have the ingredients - but the maitre'd insisted we had to drink there to secure our table!
The food, when it finally arrived, was cold / tepid at best, and the tortilla wraps (with fajitas) were dry and stale. The waiter did his best to bring out hot chips - but it was not enough to save this from being a disastrous dining experience.

Lokanta (Broomhill) - Lynne Bradey -
Rating:
We went to Lokanta on Saturday 29th January and had another truly excellent meal. We have been four times so far and have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves every time.
The atmosphere was vibrant but the service attentive despite the restaurant being full. We had a combination of meze and mixed grill, all of which was absolutely delicious. The flavours and quality were amazing and the presentation superb. The chilli prawns, Albanian-style lamb's liver and baked mushrooms with blue cheese were my personal favourites, but there was plenty of delicious choice for my other half, who prefers meaty dishes.
We particularly like the flexible menu choices, where you can have a meal with starter and main (and dessert but we are always full by then!), or a meze style dinner instead.
We will definitely be back!

Mama's & Leonie's (City Centre) - Jessica Cull -
Rating:
My boyfriend and I were lucky enough to stumble across this restaurant on a Saturday night. We wanted somewhere with a bit of atmosphere, which we definitely got. We love eating out but tend to get a little bored of the big chains and if Cubana hadn't been fully booked and Silversmiths had been open we would never have experienced this lovely little restaurant.
We had a 10 minute wait for a table, which we took to be a good sign, and the place remained busy the whole time we were there.
I had a calzone and my boyfriend had the Romana Pancakes. The pancakes weren't quite what we'd been expecting and were probably a little too cheesy, it looked more like lasagne. The dish was bubbling hot, which we thought was a nice extra touch for a little bit of added entertainment. The thought of health and safety hadn't even crossed my mind. Maybe if they'd given it to a child I might have been slightly concerned but I should think an adult would be able to cope with the situation.
The calzone was really tasty and the character of the place more than made up for what the food lacked in presentation. I agree with a comment that the plates are quite small, not that I let that spoil the meal.
The staff were very attentive and friendly despite being rushed off their feet. We loved the decor as well.
We would probably try and book a table away from the door next time as we were sitting in a bit of a draft, but it is definitely a good little find if you want something a bit different!

Wortley Arms (Wortley) - Jayne Tolan -
Rating:
As a regular customer of the Wortley Arms, I am very surprised at the bad review that I have just read.
My young family and I have never had a bad experience here. The food is of high quality, and locally sourced. The Sunday lunches are excellent. The service is spot on and the manager is very, very attentive. Nothing is too much trouble. The high quality meals are consistent and the price is not over the top for this quality of cooking. The chef is out and about speaking to customers and is always available to chat about dishes. He has recently won a TV competition, beating some of the top chefs in Yorkshire. Keep up the good work. We love your food.
