We called in here on 06/01/2018 knowing nothing about it. Despite the somewhat scruffy exterior and tired interior we were pleasantly surprised. The husband was very complimentary about the range of ale and I was impressed with the wine list.

The menu was interesting with some unusual options. Our food was freshly cooked, well presented and delicious. There was a very pleasant, friendly atmosphere and the service was friendly and efficient.

Definitely worth a return visit and a recommendation to seek it out if you are in the vicinity.

My family and I went to Akbar's for a family meal at the Rotherham branch. We all had travelled from far including Newcastle, Preston and Birmingham.

I have been to so many restaurants across the country, but the service here was a total sham.

Waiters brought the food at all the wrong times, pickle tray came after we had eaten the starters, main meals didn't come out all at once.

Every time we tried to get a waiter's attention it was such an effort. However, despite all this, this is not what my main concerns were. A customer had an epileptic fit whilst sat at the table, luckily they were two doctors dining in the restaurant at the time who were more than helpful, and may have even saved the lady's life.

However, the staff didn't help, there was no manager in sight, there was no staff member who was first aid trained, no staff member who made other customers feel comfortable, no one who reassured everyone that everything was in control. Absolutely astonishing that a restaurant who deal with the public at all times had nothing in place for an emergency situation. One of the doctors who helped was dining with us, our total meal was interrupted we had no words of thanks from any staff member, let alone a manager.

That's not all. Since our visit 7 out of 16 members of my family have had food poisoning, which rings alarm bells in my mind.

Totally put off by this whole experience.

Well I have never been in such kind of place. Very lazy staff, they don't listen to what the customer needs. They don't ask at all if the food is alright or not. The food was all bland, no spices at all. Ordered something and food comes up with something else. They didn't even say sorry for their mistake. Restaurant was freezing, my god. Toilets were freezing as well. Moreover I have never seen staff like in that restaurant.

Had Christmas lunch at Monk's Bridge Farm for the last 7 years. Food has always been good, but service was total chaos this time.

Table was booked for 12:00. Starter arrived at 12:40. Queued for main course for 35 minutes. Ordered sweet to take out before main course was finished, as taxi was booked for 14:30 and we wouldn't have had time to eat it.

Totally disappointed with service.

Started with garlic and tomato bread. Super! (It was no problem to change butter to oil, as dairy-free.)

Two fish finger sandwiches. Large portions. Very tasty. One turkey and cranberry sandwich. Again large.

Not too keen on the chips. We found a little too greasy and soggy. Having said thank we are looking forward to returning for pizza (one with just goat's cheese for dairy free), as the base on the garlic bread was amazing!

Great value for money.

My wife and I frequently eat from the carvery on Sunday evenings and it is my favourite carvery venue. Other family members have chosen from the non-carvery menu on occasion and have been a bit disappointed, but for me the carvery itself is as good as they get.

Particularly nice, too, is the fact that vegetables are all fresh, not frozen as in some carvery restaurants. I personally prefer my veg slightly under-cooked and crisp rather than overcooked and sloppy, so I don't go along with some earlier reviews about under-cooked veg! Yorkies, roasties and gravies are also great! Being able to pre-book tables is a relatively recent improvement, as we have had half-hour+ waits sometimes for a table in the past.

We will definitely continue to be patrons of this place for the foreseeable future!

Myself, sister and brother-in-law have just had Christmas Day lunch at the Rutland. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. At £70 per head we expected something amazing. Wrong! It was a disappointment from beginning to end.

The melon was OK, just a lack of it. The vegetables, including potatoes, left a lot to be desired. Yorkshire puddings and turkey were OK! Dessert wasn't too bad but not great! Cheese and biscuits... well 4 biscuits between 3 of us! Minuscule mince pies!

Needless to say we will NOT be repeating the experience.

Had a turkey meal there today (Boxing Day) and was so disappointed! The turkey was cold with loads of lukewarm gravy poured over it! The choice of veg, Brussels sprouts and butternut squash, was poor. Was so disappointed!

The starter soup however was lovely and the Xmas pud was nice but again only warm.

We waited almost an hour from main meal to sweet and only did it come after my grandson politely told the waitress we had been waiting an hour.

Sorry but bitterly disappointed for the money!

Hi all,

Not pleased with the service at this branch on Ecclesall Road, the attitude of some of the staff stinks!

The reason for this is when attending the ladies room it was very slippery and dangerous and very unhygienic.

Upon complaining the staff just had ignored me, smirked and walked off.

Very bad service!

Went in just before Christmas, I took my elderly father in with me. The service overall I received was horrendous, from first walking in right 'til the end. The food was somebody else's, and eventually when ours came it was cold. The staff weren't very apologetic, just had the attitude of not having a care in the world.

I was really angry when complaining to the management, they just brushed it off because they were busy with Xmas bookings.

I will never go there again and don't recommend anyone unless you want to spoil a nice day out.

Thanks to all at The Fairways for making our multi-family Christmas festive party so enjoyable. Great food and warm, friendly staff. Special mention to Sam for being so nice and considerate when changes had to be made before the event.

I will be back with friends next week and highly likely we will be back as a large family group soon.

A large group of us went to the White Rose for a Christmas meal last week. We had a lovely 3-course meal - all courses were very generous. The staff were very attentive - nothing was too much trouble.

We were even offered complimentary coffee! Well done we'll soon be back.

We visited this restaurant, as usually the food is okay. How wrong were we, as the food took 45 minutes to arrive to the first person and then in 5-10 minute intervals, with my husband's coming out fifteen minutes after the first order.

The food was sub standard and nothing like we have ever eaten in a Chinese restaurant, and my husband's dish came with oven chips, which were tasteless, and chicken balls that were not cooked.

The restaurant was extremely cold and the toilets were not too good, either.

When we highlighted the slow service we were offered a free drink, but due to the meal taking so long we had to leave. Their excuse for the food being not good was that they were so busy!

This is one restaurant we would not consider returning to in the future and were very disappointed.

Be careful when booking here, as we have just been for a friend's birthday with a total of 30 of us so he booked the restaurant. They charged two of us over £90 for two starters and two mains - one calzone and one carbonara - and two drinks each, which is very pricey. When I asked why it was so much I was told that since we had ordered from the a la carte menu it would be £35 per head. We totalled our meal up from the individual a la carte menu, and for what we had the cost came to less than £30 for both. What a rip off. Will not be going here ever again and neither will any of our friend's party, as they all had the same problem with their bills.

You have been warned - ask what menu they are going to charge you from before you go.

We had booked for 6 people the Festive Party Menu, 3-course meal for £15.99. We were promised Rat Pack music/Motown music with the meal, but this never materialised!

First course meal went well. Then came main - two of us ordered the sea bass, which was very poor in the size of it. You simply cant order fish with a carvery selection. No new potatoes or seasonal vegetables to complement. The salad that we chose looked as though it had been sat in their trays for hours.

Then came the desserts. Our order was mixed up on the desserts- which wasn't hard to fathom out.

We had chosen this establishment to take both our mums out for Christmas meal. Would I recommend? No way!

Food was tasteless, stale and not fresh at all. No customer service, and waitress was very rude. Not worth spending a single penny here. It was supposed to be all-you-can-eat buffet, however most of the food trays were empty and never got filled all the time we were there. Appalling place.
