Monk's Bridge Farm (Dinnington) - Len Lunn -

Rating:

Called for breakfast Saturday 3rd November. Disaster to say the least. Where do I start?

First of all the frozen bread hadn't thawed out and was stuck together. Then cold plates, but also grubby around the edges. Problem with dish washer? Sausages were burnt beyond recognition. No eggs ready. Girl said "I'll bring them to you when cooked." Tomatoes and beans both cold. Bacon nowhere near cooked enough - almost raw.

By the time we sat down everything on the plates was nearly cold, then to add insult to injury the eggs arrived and guess what? On cold plates.

In future we will return to Queens Hotel at Maltby or Toby Carvery in Rotherham. Much better quality and it doesn't cost six pounds ninety nine.

Sword Dancer (Handsworth) - Bettina Jayne Winter -

Rating:

Terrible frozen food, full of kids under-age drinking! But on a positive note it was nice when it opened and good location, but sadly it has gone downhill.

Asia Palace (Wales) - Tina Morton -

Rating:

Has this restaurant changed its chefs? Had a takeaway tonight and really didn't enjoy it. We have ordered from this restaurant for years and the food has always been so nice, but not tonight. We have tried different Chinese takeaways but always go back to this one, as it is always so nice.

I have noticed that since it has changed its name it has gone down hill. They charge £2 delivery but we always tip driver, as we feel awful if we didn't, and they can't even put the free prawn crackers in any more.

Don't think we will be ordering again from here in a rush. Gutted, as this was one of the best Chineses I'd ever had.

Mamma Mia Pepe (Hillsborough) - Kelly -

Rating:

Eat here regularly with my partner, who by the way is a very fussy eater... we love it. The food is always cooked exactly to our taste, is fresh and served piping hot. Any extras you want are accommodated and have never been over charged. Staff are lovely and my partner and I always leave happy and well fed... This place is a gem for people who do prefer non-chain food! Love it.

Mediterranean (Hunters Bar) - Sarah Jane Galtrey -

Rating:

Way too much oil in the dish.

Simply could not eat it.

Over cooked and frankly a ghastly eating out experience, which was a shame, as was invited out for dinner with good friend.

Not returning.

La Vaca (Broomhill) - Ella Louise -

Rating:

Best food ever. Rate you 99999 and more. Nice people make you feel at home. Food is great. You should do man vs food but 2 of the big steaks if they eat it all they get their picture on the wall and a La Vaca shirt. I am only 11 years old now I'm telling you you're the best. I will come her for my 12th birthday. Nice staff, best place ever.

Royal Elephant (Dinnington) - C Williams -

Rating:

Seven of us went for carvery on Sunday 21st October & it was lovely. Everything was so well cooked and nicely presented. The chef was so jolly.

The restaurant was so busy but all the staff were so pleasant & smiling. I asked for gluten-free gravy & the waitress brought it within minutes. Nothing was too much trouble for them even though you could see they were really busy.

We been here before & we have always had a lovely meal & the staff are always so nice.

Summer House (Dore) - Mozhgan -

Rating:

I came in UK recently and I found there with relaxed atmosphere, great hot drinks and friendly staff, even in busy times. Love you Summer House.

Peacock Inn (Owler Bar) - Hall -

Rating:

Booked a table for five for Sunday lunch at 2pm. Seated next to the toilets, which you could smell. Ordered drinks. When drinks came we ordered food and was told there was a hour's wait for food. And when the food came it was average. I will never eat there again.

Phoenix Inn (Ridgeway) - Matt -

Rating:

Large party of us for a family occasion. Staff were lovely and friendly but myself and partner had awful meals. It was supposed to be salmon with roasted vegetables. It came to the table cold and the veg were certainly not roasted. I think the veg came out of a packet along with the new potatoes. £12 a plate was the final insult.

Kurdistan (Burngreave) - G Rowell -

Rating:

Simply great. Water put on table immediately upon arrival - a nice touch. Delicious, tasty soup starter for everyone with plentiful supply of bread. Good choice of mouthwatering meals - all big meals.

Extra special staff create a lovely, family atmosphere in the place, and families are always evident. Attracts lots of regulars who are known to staff - always a good sign. Good mix of nationalities eating there. We have joined the Kurdistan community. Location in a most colourful and vibrant area of Sheffield. Well worth a visit.

Highly recommended.

Miller & Carter (Parkhead) - Helen -

Rating:

Well what can I say! This place certainly is the best steakhouse restaurant in Sheffield. Steaks are to die for! Never tasted steaks so flavoursome in my life (I eat out a lot).

Service was impeccable and very professional, our waitress was very knowledgeable about the steaks. It's very clean and was worth every penny, will certainly be returning! Thanks.

Coal Grill and Bar (Meadowhall Shopping Centre) - Danny -

Rating:

One word... vile.

Went to visit a friend in Sheffield and went out to eat, regrettably deciding to eat at Coal. Ordered Buffalo wings and a margherita pizza. They both came out together, the buffalo wings looked more like soggy bat wings, horrible consistency, not like the lovely crispy real Buffalo wings like you'd expect. The Buffalo sauce was so watery it looked as though the bottle has run out and they'd just mixed what was left with water and poured it over the bat wings. They had to go back!.

Then the margherita pizza. That was such poor quality I didn't finish it. It was no better than someone attempting to make a pizza from scratch at home for the first time. Horrible base and crust, and absolutely tasteless. Really pitiful quality for a restaurant that's not exactly cheap. Would never go back! Heed my warning... it's awful!

Graze Inn (Sharrow Vale) - Angelina -

Rating:

Nice place but the food and the service were awful. Waiting an age - 50 to 60 minutes. Food arrived, poor quality and I left most of it. Overall over-priced and and I think it needs an rethink to compete with the rest in the area.

Monk's Bridge Farm (Dinnington) - B Jackson -

Rating:

Not been here for a while so decided to take the grandchildren for something to eat. On arrival most of the tables were reserved but we did find one. A male member of staff was helpful at finding extra chairs. There was food all under the tables of the reserved ones, which needed cleaning before people arrive, it's off putting. Food was OK.

But then one of my granddaughters came back from the indoor play area with her shoes covered in poo. I then had to track staff down to ask for something to clean it off with. All I got was blue paper. Nobody seemed to know what to do next.

I think it's time for a makeover. It's dirty and some of the seats are torn.

Will be a while before we go again, if ever.

Swan (Ridgeway) - Annette Hitchen -

Rating:

Went for lunch. Paper-thin, cheap burger with frozen chips that were like cardboard and a light-bite lasagne that was certainly that - about 4 forkfuls with cardboard chips (must have stopped serving home-made chips?). Won't be going back any time soon.

Royal Elephant (Dinnington) - Alf Charles -

Rating:

Wednesday 10th October. We have just been to the Royal Elephant restaurant in Dinnington, for their themed Thai Street Food Banquet. It was absolutely brilliant. The selection of dishes covered all possible tastes and were beautifully cooked and presented. The street food banquets are available on Wednesday and Friday evenings. You can eat as much as you want for just £9.95.

We have been eating here on a regular basis for many years, enjoying the English carvery and Thai food. The service is exemplary, the staff are attentive, and as in Thailand always smiling. It is always fantastic value for money.

Having been to Thailand and eaten in some very expensive Thai restaurants, we cannot recommend The Royal Elephant enough. You must try it. We are confident you will not be disappointed.

McDonald's (Hillsborough) - Megan -

Rating:

The way the managers talk to their staff at the restaurant on Penistone Road, Sheffield, is disgraceful. Swearing on the front counter in front of customers. I have a family member who has just started and had to hand a sick note in due to health issues, and the way he was spoken to is just wrong and uncalled for.

Botanist (City Centre) - Sandy -

Rating:

I dined here yesterday with my son's partner. Excellent choice of starter and main course (too full for a dessert). Staff were very helpful and friendly. Alcohol-free drinks were very good. The "all greens" (I think that's what it was called) was very refreshing, mint, kiwi and a bit of fizz. Would definitely visit again.
