Drakehouse Mill (Crystal Peaks) - Tracy -

Rating:

A couple of weeks ago my husband and I stopped off to eat here. We had our two dogs with us and after having a bad experience a wile back we thought we would give it another try.

It was really nice so today we decided to go back and have tea again, only to be told that they don't serve outside any more and haven't done all year. My husband explained that we were here two weeks ago, and the barman said with a very bad attitude that they haven’t served food outside all year and won't be, and they don't have the staff to run backwards and forwards outside.

Uncle Sam's (Sharrow) - Paul Blackwell -

Rating:

I was very disappointed with the quality of the burger. It was grey and rubbery, not like I remember Uncle Sam's. I had to apologise to my wife for taking her there. £32 for two burgers and two drinks, I felt like I had been mugged. Will not be going back.

Sword Dancer (Handsworth) - Doris -

Rating:

I don't know what's going on at the pub but the food is not as good as it used to be. The chips was the best, not any more. I complained about the meat, got no feedback.

Hammer & Pincers (Bents Green) - Joel Benson -

Rating:

Really good place. Came in with my pals and had a proper good burger, was greeted personally by the manager (I think his name was Britt?)

Parking was free. I'm not sure what the other reviews are on about, there's signs up all over and you just whack your reg in a little tablet.

McDonald's (Hillsborough) - Alice Ede -

Rating:

Today I decided to go and give in my McDonald's Monopoly tickets that I had won, which was a small fries mad and medium Diet Coke. Although I did not know that you had to be 16 or over to redeem these prizes, as I am 13 and not with an adult of 16 years or older.

As I approached the counter to politely ask if I could redeem my prize I asked an employee if I could do so. Half way through speaking I was rudely interrupted and asked my age, and I said 13. Immediately the woman quite loudly stated (making a scene also) that I was not old enough to redeem my prize and that I should "READ THE RULES!" This lady was very rude when speaking to me instead of just explaining to me politely that I could not redeem. I felt very uncomfortable and unwelcome in the restaurant and immediately left.

I do not know the name of this employee but I hope she gets dealt with, because the way she treated the situation was fully unacceptable, especially as I'm just a 13-year-old kid that wants to redeem a prize of a small fries and a Diet Coke.

I think that the age you should be to redeem a prize should not be 16, as if I'm not allowed to redeem a prize then I should not be given the chance in the first place to do so, as it is misleading. I would just like to emphasise the fact that this was just at small fries and a Diet Coke, not anything major at all, and the fact that this woman made it such a big deal is just stupid. The time was around 2 to 2:30 if this helps.

Sword Dancer (Handsworth) - Kevin Ellis -

Rating:

Absolutely terrible. No tray for drinks ordered so had to make 3 trips to the bar. Staff brought condiments to table with dirty knives and forks and no napkins. Raw chicken so had to send back, got no apology. Halloumi was all batter and desert didn't come so had to go and ask at bar after a 30-minute wait. Never again!

Fairways Inn (Birley Wood) - Pauline Dwyer -

Rating:

Not been here for ages but really disappointed. Food overcooked, and long wait at the bar. Notice on table to say we could only stay for 2 hours, which would normally be enough, but being understaffed we only had enough time to order meals and a drink. Shocking service today and kids went without dessert because of queue!

Angel Inn (Holmesfield) - Jamie Marston -

Rating:

Gone downhill this last year! Been going for all family birthdays for many years. Shame to now get the same food at lower quality. The decor is showing its age and all we can think is the owners are getting complacent and allowing standards to slip. Not just ourselves to be disappointed but also the people we recommend to visit this last year.

Let's hope things can turn around but until they do we will be looking for another venue.

Moorlands (Owler Bar) - Carl -

Rating:

Waiting in a line for 20 minutes to be served fatty meets and watery veg with no flavour whatsoever. Not good at all.

Taste Of India (Hillsborough) - Luke Kennedy -

Rating:

Customer service was disgusting. Missed numerous dishes off the order. Phoned to complain, was told I would have to wait 45 minutes for those dishes. Told the ignorant man on the phone this wasn't acceptable; his response was vile.

Will never use these rude people again. Shame, as I was regular customer.

Food was amazing. Portion size was very good for price. The staff made you feel really welcome, like family. Deffo recommend.

Bambukat (Broomhill) - Ron -

Rating:

Great food and friendly service. Amazing menu selections, and food is fresh all the time. Love the fish thali selection and tofu starter. My partner tried biryani, which was one of the best ever tasted by me.

Overall great experience and would definitely be visiting again very soon.

Sword Dancer (Handsworth) - Alex -

Rating:

On arrival in the pub we started with a drink and also asked the staff about the snooker table, if we can play. The staff straight away responded that the sticks are broken, and we can't play.

Also after spending a few hours having food and drinks, we spotted a group of lads that were using the snooker table. Straight away we asked Alex, one of the staff members, what was the reason that they can play and we can't. Asked him if he had anything against us in any way or shape. He said that he has not having any problems with us and nothing to do with any sort discriminatory issues.

Didn't really appreciate the way the situation was handled.

Crown & Cushion (Chapeltown) - Irene Reynolds -

Rating:

A group of us went last Monday for lunch, it was so good we went back again today. Every meal we had was superb and I can be a fussy eater. Both times I had the fish and chips, which were lovely. The steak pie was full of chunks meat. The roasts were excellent. The ladies who served us were friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. Thank you.

Coal Grill and Bar (Meadowhall Shopping Centre) - Bryan Smith -

Rating:

Today the meal in Coal restaurant was very good, but the service was the best part. We were visiting the town from Stafford. We were served by Mandy. The attitude was fantastic, friendly, efficient, a real credit. This meal made our day out fantastic.
