Kurdistan (Burngreave) - Adam -

Rating:

This restaurant is terrible, the food is mediocre at best, the staff were rude.

We had a problem in that we finished our starters and our mains didn't arrive. When we took it up with the waiter he said it was their policy to cook the mains when the customer informs THEM that they have finished the starters. Where else does this happen... nowhere. Absolutely shocking service.

Also the waiter told us we could eat elsewhere if we weren't happy.

Never eating here again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Rowsha (Walkley) - Sarah Stuart -

Rating:

Utterly amazing food. Always have a selection of small plates to share in the restaurant, which has a warm friendly feel. Staff second-to-none.

As for takeaway, yes you get a lot and it is hot! What I love about Lebanese is it's so tasty without having to have spice.

This is my favourite restaurant in Sheffield, hands down.

Manor House (Dronfield) - Jill Wormleighton -

Rating:

Sadly second time visit.

Very slow service. Arrived at 7:00PM, one of our party did not eat until 9:00PM. Time between courses far too long.

Nice starters. Dreadful main. Rack of lamb completely undercooked. Could not cut, had to ask for a steak knife to cut. Other person's lamb was totally fatty. Side order of vegetables had to be reminded. Came three quarters way through meal. Desserts disappointing. Chocolate far too rich.

Will not attend again.

Cross Scythes (Totley) - Trish Ellis -

Rating:

Beautiful day sat outside your pub today. Lovely young woman with excellent service skills.

Wouldn't come again for food, as we all had the club chicken and bacon sandwich. Not good I'm afraid, hardly any chicken or bacon on the club sandwich, and what bit there was was cold. Lots of bread, which wasn't bad, but the chips were old and not cooked fresh.

Would sit outside and have a drink but the food we had was not up to scratch, although I have to say we were all very two-faced and said it was alright. We don't like complaining face-to-face.

Top nosh. Enjoyed all courses, no complaints about the food> Service could have been slightly quicker, but overall was good.

Bay of Bengal (Gleadless) - Sharon Proverbs -

Rating:

We're a regular visitor to the restaurant because the service is always friendly & the food excellent. However, today was even better.

Its my birthday & we both ordered chicken tikka masala. After the waiter explained the 2 different types we decided on Asian recipe. Absolutely gorgeous. Creamy, spicy & tender chunks of chicken.

After coffee the waiter brought me an ice cream dessert complete with a candle. Ahhh. Perfect end to a perfect meal.

Thanks.

La Taverna di Ferdinando (Greenhill) - Loraine -

Rating:

Thank you for a lovely evening Saturday. Have been coming here for many years and have never been disappointed with the food or the service.

The food was freshly cooked and tasted beautiful. The service was very good, always made to feel welcome, nothing is too much trouble.

Hope to continue to eat there for many years to come. Best to book in advance for a table to avoid disappointment of there being no tables available.

Marco's (Woodseats) - Sharon Jones -

Rating:

I have had to write a review to say how much we enjoy Marco's. We have currently been about 6 times. Every time we have enjoyed the food. Good value for money. Added bonus is the bring your own bottle policy. So makes the evening cheaper. Very friendly staff.

The only slight negative, but doesn't ruin a nice evening out, is it's a little cramped.

Do go and give this restaurant a try, with or without children.

Mogul Room (Hunters Bar) - Chris Damms -

Rating:

Went here and had broken glass in my food. Was left bleeding in the toilets by un-bothered waiters who said, "we can't do anything we don't own it".

Great... very poor. What more do you need, don't go there!

Mamma Mia Pepe (Hillsborough) - Diana -

Rating:

Visited this restaurant on many occasions so I could sample as much of the food as possible (every time I order something I always want what someone else has).

Never been disappointed. The wine is excellent, the staff are friendly and the chef makes you feel like an old friend. Mid week prices make this amazing value, too. A must place to eat.

Balti King (Broomhill) - Ros Sutton -

Rating:

Visited on the 9th September 2013 to celebrate my daughter's birthday.

Welcoming and friendly staff. They really looked after us. Food was very good and the prices are reasonable. We really enjoyed it and will definitely be going again and recommend it.

Mamma Mia Pepe (Hillsborough) - Louise Nadin -

Rating:

I have been to this restaurant about 5 times with my husband. I thought is was about time I gave it a review, as it the best Italian I have been to. Lovely, cosy setting, friendly waitress and amazing fresh food made to order. Highly recommended!

India Garden (Heeley) - Karen Chester -

Rating:

Tasteless food. Ordered a chicken karahi, which was less than mediocre. There was little evidence of spices in the dish and the experience was just plain bland.

Sadly this is the second Indian takeaway we have tried in the locality over the past two weeks and been very disappointed with both, so next time will have to go further afield.

Beijing City (Greenhill) - Laura Grant -

Rating:

Fawlty Towers is better run than this restaurant. I went with ten of my friends to this restaurant to celebrate a friend's birthday. I found the place itself very unwelcoming with empty beer casks stored in the foyer. When we sat down we were presented with one small bowl of prawn crackers between all of us, we were given the menus either a la cart or a special "eat as much as you can in two hours", costing £10.90.

The first stumbling block came when we were informed that as a group we all had to pick from the same menu. The majority wanted the £10.90 menu, which was very limited, only meat dishes, no seafood. The starters were acceptable but they didn't take the orders for the main course 'till we had finished the starters.

As only 4 people wanted wine, a waiter was removing the extra wine classes and knocked over a glass of water, which landed in one of my friends' lap. The man didn't apologise but another waitress came over to clean up the table. We asked for the table cloth to be changed but the manager said it would be too much trouble and all she did was to place another table cloth over the wet area.

About 20 minutes later the main course started to arrive one or two dishes at a time. One person received the first part of their meal and had to wait about 15 minutes for the second part. By that time the first part was getting cold.

There were no plates or dishes offered and when one of us asked for them the waitress brought just one, and we had to ask her for dishes for everyone. There was only a fork to use to eat with. No chop sticks and no knives and spoons.

The meals themselves were very poor, consisting mostly of vegetables and very little meat. The majority of the party were very dissatisfied with their meals and left quite a lot of food on their plates.

I can honestly say this is one of the worst Chinese restaurants I have ever been to in Sheffield and I have eaten in most of them. The price of £10.90 for the amount of food we received was shocking, and its a place I highly recommend you stay away from.

Treble Bob (Barlborough) - Joanne Priest -

Rating:

Terrible food. The gravy was like water, the meat was tough, parsnips were rock hard in the middle. Staff very rude when we complained. Chef needs to go back to catering college!

Balti King (Broomhill) - Dianne Ronksley -

Rating:

As a regular visitor of Balti King, I took 9 of my work colleagues there last night for a meal. As usual the food was delicious and everyone enjoyed it. The staff are welcoming and pleasant. And last but not least great value for money!

Thanks Tony and team, will be seeing you soon.

Cow And Calf (Grenoside) - Peter Hulbert -

Rating:

The Cow & Calf is an excellent pub and has only ever been spoiled by the poor management that the brewery always appointed. A new landlord has taken the reins and overnight it's lifted the standard to a greater hight.

Today sees the start of food, which we all hope goes well. The pub is a converted farm and has lots of character, views to die for, and the beer garden is great for families.

I for one wish the Cow & Calf every success, as it's a great pub and shows how it can be done. Cheap beer and good settings does it for most. Quality food and fair price will put the icing on the cake and make this the number one pub in Grenoside. Just keep the rif raff & foul-mouthed out and you can't be beaten!

La Taverna di Ferdinando (Greenhill) - Andrew and Anne Niven -

Rating:

After living in southern Italy for a few years it was a superb experience to visit this restaurant that not only cooks authentic southern Italian food but would strive to cook you what you ate in Italy. For us they cooked steak casa nostra and true pasta vongole when we booked again.

We will continue to eat there and support the true authenticity of this taverna.
