We have added a basic listing for Hestia restaurant at 190-192 Northfield Road in Crookes. Hestia serves Mediterranean food.

We have added a complete listing for Roast restaurant at 46 Howard Street in Sheffield city centre. Roast serves warm salad, hot roast pork, sandwiches, baked panini, pizza and soup.

We have removed Alfie and Bella Pizza, formerly of 46 Howard Street in Sheffield city centre, as it has now closed down. We will add its replacement, Roast, shortly.

Off the Shelf is holding a specialist talk about contemporary attitudes to food with cultural critic, Rob Lyons, on Thursday 20th October.

Food in Britain today is more plentiful, nutritious, varied and more affordable than ever in our history. Yet there are concerns that our current diets will mean that we will get steadily fatter with consequences for our quality of life, our children's behaviour and even the environment. Rob Lyons' challenges head on the fashionable critics of so-called junk food and the "wacky world" of organic and locally-sourced food campaigners. His new book, Panic on a Plate draws on history, science, and official reports to show the fear mongers are wrong: the changing face of food is full of hope.

La Mama restaurant in Nether Edge is holding some live music nights in October 2011:

October 12th - Paul Newman - wonderfully talented local singer/guitarist who regularly entertains us with an impressive repertoire overflowing with Latin & jazz classics, bossa nova, Cuban son and songs from the last century.

October 19th - Mike Tinker - entertainer extraordinaire, Mike never fails to get your foot tapping and your ears listening with his original take on the blues/Americana/jazz sound. Mike is proving to be ever popular at La Mama.

October 29th - A surprise special guest this Saturday evening for our 2nd birthday party. News to follow... Feliz cumpleaños.

It is indeed La Mama's 2nd birthday anniversary at the end of this month. To celebrate this wonderful occasion we will be holding a special fiesta on Saturday October 29th with a surprise guest providing musical entertainment. Further news to follow very soon.
