Piccolino Restaurant Added

Piccolino arrives in 'heart of the city'

The transformation of Sheffield city centre continues with the opening of a renowned Italian restaurant and bar.

Piccolino restaurant and bar, which will open to the public on 31 May, brings the completion of the Heart of the City development - a £130 million scheme to regenerate Sheffield's city centre - one step closer.

Run by the Individual Restaurant Company, one of the north's fastest growing companies, Piccolino has successful operations throughout England. In areas such as Nottingham and Manchester, the venue is described as 'by far the best Italian restaurant in the city' and is consistently highly recommended as somewhere to enjoy a great atmosphere, good food and excellent service.

Inspired by the traditional charm and contemporary buzz associated with classic brasseries, the bright and airy venue will have a stylish, welcoming bar, intimate booth seating and a large 'al alfresco' dining option with space for up to a further 100 people outside in the new Millennium Square - the perfect place to watch the world go by Italian style.

Raising the bar for dining out in Sheffield, Piccolino has all the Italian favourites on the menu including mouth-watering risottos, a classic pasta selection, stone baked pizzas, succulent meat and fresh fish dishes. Everything, from the bread to pizza to the delicious flavours of ice cream, is home made on the premises by the restaurant chefs.

Andrew Wigger, General Manager of Piccolino Sheffield, said: "Sheffield is a cosmopolitan city with a strong demand for both high quality restaurant dining. Having worked with fresh Italian food for the last 20 years, we are excited about bringing a real taste of Italy to Sheffield and look forward to welcoming people to our new restaurant in this vibrant city.

"Being involved in the redevelopment of the city centre means we are not only ideally located in the heart of the city, but means we are also part of the Heart of the City project - something we are very proud of."

The 120-seater restaurant and bar, in Millennium Square, part of the £24 million 1 St Paul's Place building, joins ground floor neighbours Cafe Rouge and Caffe Nero and prestigious global law firm DLA Piper who occupy a large proportion of the grade A office space above.

Brendan Moffett, director of strategic marketing at Creative Sheffield, said: "The arrival of Piccolino further emphasises just how far the city centre has come. By welcoming outlets of the calibre of Piccolino, we add to the city's reputation of what it offers to the people who live here and those who visit.

"The restaurant sector across the city is continuing to improve, as befits a city as aspirational and focussed as Sheffield. Things are happening in Sheffield and Piccolino is a further sign of our progress."

Piccolino restaurant will open its doors to the public at 4 Millennium Square, St Paul's Place, Sheffield, S1 2JJ on 31 May at 5pm and thereafter will open at 12noon everyday until 11pm Monday - Saturday and until 10.30pm on Sunday.
