Zeugma Iki (Heeley) - Steve Birks -

Rating:

We hadn't eaten at a Turkish restaurant for a while so decided it would make a nice change to go to Sheffield and just drop in somewhere. We noticed from outside Zeugma Iki that it had a huge open grill, so thought we'd give it a try.

We were met at the door by a very friendly waitress, were shown to a table and seated. Almost immediately, complimentary olives, pickle, oil, and flat-bread appeared. We noticed the decor was quite dated, but actually by the end of the night it just added to the place's character and charm.

The best thing though was the food. I had the mixed grill, my wife had the lamb ribs. We swapped and shared. The helpings were generous, flavourful and delicious. Our meal, including a bottle of wine, came to just over £40.00. Worth every penny.

There is another restaurant just up the road that is just called Zeugma. This review is for Zeugma Iki.

Drakehouse Mill (Crystal Peaks) - Mr Woodall -

Rating:

Good food. Great menu selection. The staff can't do enough for you.

A lot of new faces, but its lovely to see some familiar faces, especially Elaine, she always makes a fuss of the kids makes sure they have crayons.

Sportsman (Crosspool) - Chris -

Rating:

I went to the Sportsman for a lunch with my old Mum of 94 and friends while visiting Laurel & Limes home.

Having had such a stressed week it was such a pleasure to have such excellent service. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The food was also very tasty and well cooked.

I will certainly go again when I am next down from Dundee.

Thank you.

Swan (Ridgeway) - Paul Schofield -

Rating:

Lovely pub; excellent food. Friendly staff, value for money. What more can you ask for.

Elmwood Farm (Beighton) - Steve Ratcliffe -

Rating:

Food OK, like most pub meals. Staff very good. Clean and tidy.

But my main problem with this pub is it is for children. Parents take lots of money. There are lots of slots to fill on the machines. That's after you get over the shock of paying £1.15 for a bottle of Fruit Shoot. That's got to be a 100% mark up on any shop. So if you don't mind give it a go. I will give it a miss. Not child-friendly at that price.

Benjamin Huntsman (City Centre) - Barnaby Knowles -

Rating:

I have eaten here a few times and never had any reason to complain. It's a standard Wetherspoon's pub so there's a large food menu with your standard burgers, steaks, chicken, salads etc... As you'd expect from Wetherspoon's it's all reasonably priced and the bar has a large range of drinks including many real ales.

Beehive (City Centre) - Barnaby Knowles -

Rating:

Decent cheap-and-cheerful pub grub. There's an extensive menu and everything is reasonably priced. I've eaten here on many occasions after work on a Friday evening and never had any complaints.

Common Room (City Centre) - Barnaby Knowles -

Rating:

I've eaten here a couple of times and the ample American-themed menu gives plenty of options for trying something new.

It's reasonably-priced, the service has always been fine, and the food good on all occasions.

BB's (City Centre) - Katie Gascoyne -

Rating:

We have eaten here on a number of occasions, more recently in September 2015 as a party of four.

The restaurant still offers a bring-your-own wine policy with no corkage fee, which brings the bill right down. Staff were friendly and helpful, offering to bring flutes for our cava.

Everything on the large menu is home-made and we have enjoyed a variety of different dishes over the years. I really enjoyed my Pollo Thermidor. My partner opted for Pollo Al Malibu - chicken breast fried in butter, a touch of Malibu, cream and spinach. Sadly the Malibu completely overpowered the other flavours and the sauce was sickly sweet, tasting like white chocolate. That was a shame because everything else was perfect.

Bill's (City Centre) - Katie Gascoyne -

Rating:

My partner and I ate here a couple of months ago, after booking online, which was particularly convenient. Upon arrival I was impressed with the decor in the modern, fashionable unit.

We order a jug of sangria between us. We both liked it, although my partner thought that there was too much ice and it was overpriced for what you get.

We shared a starter of lemon squid, which was really nice. For my main I had lime & coriander chicken, and my partner had a burger. No complaints from either of us, and the sweet potato chips were a real treat.

Mama's & Leonie's (City Centre) - Katie Gascoyne -

Rating:

We ate here with a Groupon voucher that offered a starter and main course for two people, for £16. The meal was fair, but not worth full price.

We both had fishcakes from the specials board, both of which were nice enough but seemed bought-in rather than home-made.

For our main course we both had pizzas. I really liked mine, which was topped with chili. However, my partner wasn't as keen on his. The cheese wasn't mozzarella and there was a lot of it, so the taste was overpowering.

We have eaten here before and would go back, but would avoid the pizza, which wasn't worth the full price of around £10.

Kito's Italian (Woodseats) - Katie Gascoyne -

Rating:

Couldn't have asked for more. Plenty to choose from on the menu and also a specials board. Everything looked home-made.

We had the BBQ ribs and pork & fennel sausage starters. Both were delicious and probably the best we've had.

For our main course we had a calzone and a chicken wrapped in Parma ham dish from the specials board. Again, both were spot on and the portions were generous. The vegetables that accompanied the chicken could have done with a bit more seasoning.

We took our own wine and with a £2 corkage fee the bill was £37.

We are looking forward to going back and trying other things from the menu, and would definitely recommend this restaurant. It's fairly small so booking is advisable.

Proove (Broomhill) - Lisa -

Rating:

The service was fantastic. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, on what was a very busy Saturday night. The pizzas were delicious. Mine possibly needed another 30 seconds in the oven, but I do like things well done! We Will be back. Thank you.

Mirpuri Dhera (Darnall) - Sue -

Rating:

Excellent place to eat. Staff always pleasant and efficient. Buffet type restaurant means all members of the family (even picky children) can eat, as the range of food here is so vast.

Only downside is... if you enjoy an alcoholic drink with your meal you won't get one here. We like milk, but this is not available, either, which is a shame, as it cools the palate.

Old Red Lion (Grenoside) - Andrea Murray -

Rating:

My Husband and I have eaten at the top Red Lion quite a few times now. The service is always impeccable and to a very high standard. The food is very tasty (from a Sunday lunch to whatever else is on the menu). In particular, there is a young waiter/bartender who is an absolute credit to the pub. His name is Aydan and nothing is too much trouble for him to assist you.

All in all, dining there is a very pleasant experience and we would recommend the top Red to anyone who likes good food, a cosy ambiance, and excellent service.

Waggon & Horses (Langsett) - Audrey -

Rating:

Sunday lunch was totally disgusting. After waiting 30 minutes it was cold. No gravy, frozen Yorkshire puddings, two new potatoes, a spoon of garden peas, one floret of cauliflower, and three carrots. So very disappointed.

Marco's (Woodseats) - Alison -

Rating:

We regularly visit Marco's, either as a couple or with friends, and always have a thoroughly enjoyable evening. We go for the fantastic food, not the decor which admittedly is stuck in the 1970s. Staff are attentive and down to earth and the owner, who is also the chef, knows his market well. His steaks and chicken dishes are better than many an up-market Italian (and I've visited a few!)

Whilst the family trattoria style certainly isn't what you'd want for a "posh" night out, if it's a fun evening with delicious food at a reasonable price you want, you really can't do worse than visit Marco's.

The BYO wine policy means it's wallet-friendly and I guarantee you'll leave suitably full.

Cross Scythes (Totley) - Helen Malton -

Rating:

There is a big sign outside saying "No.1 Gastro Pub Sheffield". Well the person who wrote that needs to get out more. They could even go around the corner to the Cricket Inn.

What dire food. We had the catch sharing plate, which was described as good for four but ample for two.

One half-slice brown bread, four undercooked frozen prawns, big pile overdone old whitebait -rank, eight mussels, one small soft shell crab, fritters we assumed were polenta, and 1 x 2cm-squared bit of cauliflower.

Now assume there are four of you. You are obviously going to fight over the piece of cauliflower. Also you will fight after tasting them over who will have to eat the whitebait.

There were only two of us. We went home hungry but laughing about the single half-slice of bread on the sharing plate. £22.

Do not go here it is awful.

Proove (Broomhill) - Philip Delamere -

Rating:

We were at the opening night of this brand new restaurant. There were a couple of minor teething problems but these did not detract from an otherwise five-star experience.

We ate the most authentic pizza we have had outside of Italy, and probably the best we have ever tasted. The staff were pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable. The wood-fired pizza oven was a work of art. Quality Italian wine was on offer alongside an amazing local real ale - "Moonshine" from the Abbeydale Brewery in Sheffield. Both the wine and the beer complemented the pizza beautifully - a match made in heaven.

We will certainly be making a return visit.
