Great new menu at the Phoenix. Pub and Grill. Absolutely beautiful food and great atmosphere. We love it at the Phoenix!

My booking was 12:45. When we went for our food chef cut the meat so thin and gave you very little of it you could not taste it. The stuffing was so hard you could not eat it. It looked like yesterday's leftovers. When I got to the veg the carrots and two other veg should have been changed for fresh veg.

When I complained to our waitress she just said I am very sorry but did not report it to the head waitress.

Where I sat the tables were too close. In fact the chair on the next table touched mine. (I would have expected the head waitress to come over and apologise I would not want to eat there again.)

Two meals for £10 during the daytime is a bargain in anyone's books! Fish and chips was beautiful and you can tell it's fresh fish. Partner had hunter's chicken, which was also great. Will definitely be back soon.

Went the 2-for-1 meal on Wednesday.

Very disappointed when I found two pieces of metal pan scourer in my starter.

It was pointed out by the waitress that it was pan scourer but the starter would not be discontinued because it was 2-for-1.

The management didn't apologise. They knocked the price of my Coke off.

Finding something that you scrub pans with in my meal put me off my eating my main.

But the dismissive attitude of the management was rude and unacceptable.

Went for a meal with a friend. We ordered chicken pie. When it arrived it was swimming in gravy. OK I like gravy but not beef gravy with chicken pie. We should have returned it but like all polite British we didn't. We will not be returning.

Delicious lamb tikka. Spinach chicken tikka masala not keen, got coconut and sugar in. Quick delivery, everything piping hot. Chapatti and naan perfect. This on a Friday night. Will order again, this was first time trying.

My husband and I really enjoyed our meal at the Monk's Bridge Farm restaurant.

We both chose the carvery, which was excellent. Ruby was the waitress who made sure we had everything we needed.

All in all a very pleasant experience.

The venue has cozy little booths but only if your party is 4 or less people. Staff was friendly and accommodating. The menu choices were very limited for smaller appetites, vegetarian and vegans.

The meat was advertised as slow cooked and tender but it was akin to chewing on a car tyre. I left all my belly pork and beef brisket. It was just chewy, gristly and frankly inedible.

I also ordered buttered greens which was braised green cabbage. Unfortunately the chef had emptied the salt pot into the dish and so that was also inedible. The corn on the cob was extremely expensive and had an odd taste to it which we couldn't place so that was also left.

The chicken burger bun was soggy and the piece of chicken inside was dry so we we left most of that too.

The chips were really very good and we had luckily ordered lots of those.

Nonetheless £92 for drinks and chips for 4 people is quite expensive so we will not be going back... ever.

I kept trying to book a table 2 weeks ago but the website wouldn't let me.

So I visited anyway with my daughter and granddaughter. On arrival I was asked if I'd booked a table! No.

We were then told that only carvery and kids meals was on offer, my granddaughter is 16, and didn't want carvery and to be honest neither did I.

We sat down, looked at kids menu and left.

I'd we had known it was only carvery we wouldn't have come.

Very disappointed, as my granddaughter was looking forward to her hunter's chicken, and I was looking forward to spending some quality time with my family after a challenging year.

Been going to Whitbys since it opened. Never had a problem with it till yesterday. Batter was horrendous on the fish, all fluffy inside and wet, plus the fish was a lower standard.

My daughter and I ate here today for the first time and both had the chicken and avocado salad. So tasty. Service also excellent, professional and friendly. Well done. We will be back.

The best steak I have ever had. A little overpriced but I have had really bad steak for the same price.

I couldn't have a starter because there was nothing on there my palate liked but that's my problem not theirs.

My dessert was to die for. Berry Eton Mess... mmmwwwwahh.

Lastly the decor inside and out looked stunning due to millions of mini white and coloured lights.

All in all I would 100% recommend The Summer House. One of the best restaurants I have ever been to.

Had amazing afternoon the cocktails are beautiful and the staff are amazing. Todd looked after us, he was very polite and a great host. You need to keep him - great lad.

Always wondered why the garden of this place is empty, today found out why!

They can serve you a sandwich in the garden but if you want anything else then the dictatorial (about to go bust) landlord, insists you sit inside. Clearly not computing (not that it's difficult) that it's no more effort to carry a sandwich plate or any other plate to the same table outside. This idiot insist that you sit crowded together in an indoor setting to vastly increase you risk of catching Covid!

As other reviews have said, give this place a miss! Before being told that only sandwiches are allowed in the garden we looked at the menu, scampi was £13.99. Off we went to Wetherspoons down the hill. Excellent service, loads of room, incredibly simple to order and pay from the app, FRIENDLY service (you are treated like a customer not an inconvenience), food half the price and a free drink.

Crown & Cushion deserves to go bust, which will hopefully be soon, but not soon enough!

Two of the worst meals we've had.

Cheeseburger consisted of burger, chips and small amount of coleslaw. Burger bun was very dry with only a beef burger with a slice of cheese, completely dry and difficult to swallow. Menu states burgers come with tomato, lettuce, red onion, and mayonnaise, but none on burger or plate.

Salmon with chilli noodles looked like a plate of micro noodles with a piece of salmon on top.

These meals cannot have been produced by a competent chef, they would not have let such monstrosities out of the kitchen!
