Smoke Barbecue (City Centre) - Paul Bartlett -

Rating:

Lovely chips. Had a burger, which was nothing better or above average. Friendly staff, very helpful, apart from the manageress, who was extremely off-hand.

Monk's Bridge Farm (Dinnington) - Diane -

Rating:

I have been dinning nearly every Sunday at Monk's Bridge for near on 6 years with other members of my family, especially my mum until her death. We always enjoyed our meals and team members of staff were always helpful and very friendly until today.

I ordered a farmhouse salad, which came with an item missing. Commented on this to a team member. As I was looking at the deserts I heard a female member of staff say that I should be told to get over myself and to give me extra cheese. We should have been informed that the item was not available also the manager should have told the team member who was stood next to him as she was making remarks about me to keep her opinions to herself. It wasn't until I let them know who I was that he was going to have a word with her. What a shame one team member let the side down.

Mama's & Leonie's (City Centre) - El and Eve -

Rating:

I don't get the positive reviews, it's like a cattle market with overpriced food, poor service and at the most edible food. I wasn't impressed and wouldn't return. The management need to treat their staff and customers better.

Frankie & Benny's (Meadowhall Shopping Centre) - Amy Foster -

Rating:

I have been to the one at the Centertainment and I really enjoyed it. It was lovely, the best food I've had in a long time. So when I went to the one at Meadowhall I was expecting the same, but I was very disappointed.

The starter was like water, the sauce should have been thicker, the burger was burnt. Now I love burger and chips, but I couldn't eat 'cos it was horrible.

I still like the restaurant but I would never go to the Meadowhall one again. I only ever go to the Centertainment one.

Frankie & Benny's (Meadowhall Shopping Centre) - Pete M -

Rating:

I visited with 5 work colleagues this morning. When given the bill we asked to pay separately. The waiter told us we couldn't. We insisted and were then told it was £5.20 each. The other lads in front of me duly paid their £5.20 and headed off to the van, as we were late from our break time, as it took a long time to get our bill.

I was last in line and gave the waiter a £10 note for my share, expecting £4.80 change. He then told me the bill was short, as he had divided it wrong, and I would have to pay more than £10 (for a £5.20 breakfast!), as the others had now left. Obviously I refused and said I wanted my change! He refused! So I had no choice other than to pay, due to the time, and walked off stating I would complain about this, and asked how was it my fault and that it was out of order that I was being overcharged almost double for my £5 meal?

The next minute the waiter (Scott I assume is name from receipt) followed me down the stairs threatening to call security unless I pay even more! I said go ahead and you can explain to them why you have charged me £10 for a £5 breakfast and refused to give me my change!

When I got back to the van and told my colleagues, two of the lads went back to pay the extra pound or so that he had miscalculated, at which time they were were "apprehended by security", which is shameful and ridiculous. Even when they gave the waiter the extra cash he was disrespectful to them even thought they had done nothing wrong!

The security guard then came back to me at the van and threatened to detain me for non-payment! To which I explained to him that I had in fact paid nearly twice what I should have and the lads had paid what was asked for! He agreed that your waiter had acted in a terrible attitude and apologised for embarrassing us. I think the waiter should be made to do the same?

Shepley Spitfire (Totley) - Carol Dean -

Rating:

Went Friday the 22nd July 2016 with a group of seniors, pre-booked. Was waiting over a hour for the first course, and then half an hour for the sweet. If I had not been with the group I would have left. Would not recommend it and would not go again.

Carluccio's (Meadowhall Shopping Centre) - Michael Willoughby -

Rating:

My comments are regarding our recent visit to Carluccio's on Wednesday 7th July 2016, arriving at lunch time, 12:30PM.

There were three of us for lunch, my wife, sister, and myself. We were shown to our table and ordered our drinks. Everything OK up to there.

All three of us already knew the meals we were to order, and placed the order with the waiter.

My sister and I wanted the lasagna each and the garlic bread to share, with my wife wanting the Chicken Milanese with salad.

Again no problems there. The restaurant was now filling up with diners.

We sat chatting as you do, and waited for or lunch to arrive. It arrived about ten minutes later.

All three meals looked very nice on the plates. But no garlic bread arrived. We asked the waiter and he said he knew where it was and he would go and bring it over.

We started to eat our lunch, expecting the bread to arrive straight away. But no, in fact it arrived much later.

But again things were going wrong. We both had taken a mouthful of the lasagna and said mine's cold.

My wife was tucking into her Milanese with a comment that the salad looked a bit limp and did not look as fresh as you would want at lunch time.

We asked a young male waiter to come over to comment on the condition of the lasagna and were told in a very nasty manner that I would have to wait till he had the time to come over to our table.

Minutes later the same waiter came over and said what's the problem in a not too nice way.

I asked to speak to the manager.

To the manager's credit he come over and we expressed our concerns regarding both lasagnas and the late arrival of the garlic bread. He listened and apologised for the problems and offered us two fresh and hot lasagnas.

My sister and I both refused his offer. By this time, my wife had eaten her meal and we had eaten the garlic bread.

We asked the manager for our bill, wanting to pay for the Milanese and drinks, which we did.

Further comments regarding our visit, are that whilst waiting to sort out the above problems we noted just how dirty and the table we were sitting at was.

The standard of cleaning leaves a lot to be desired. The tables had been wiped clean on top, but all around the edges and between the tables clearly had not been wiped clean that morning prior to opening time. You have to ask the question if the manager and staff can't ensure the public areas are cleaned to a standard then what are the Kitchen and prep areas like?

We paid and left, going for a coffee to discuss our lunchtime incident.

On arriving home my wife spent most of the afternoon on the toilet. Don't know why, but we have an idea. Both my sister and I were OK.

In our opinion there needs to be an urgent review of all the staff training, that's including the cleaning domestics and waiting staff and managers.

We won't be going there ever again.

Fairways Inn (Birley Wood) - Colleen Ball -

Rating:

I love going out for a meal at Fairways. Great value for money, and carvery is amazing. We had our wedding reception here on Friday 13th May, too. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. Service is fantastic.

Crown & Cushion (Chapeltown) - Margaret -

Rating:

My sister and I go to the Crown and Cushion for girly lunches and we have never been disappointed with the food served.

The crab cakes starter are really yummy. Try them, you will love them. That said, all the starters and mains are wonderful, fresh, well cooked and presented. No diet day when we go there! Love it.

Drakehouse Mill (Crystal Peaks) - Anne Crossland -

Rating:

Visited today - very disappointed.

No scampi, then was told no burgers. Burgers were sorted, but wrong salmon meal was brought out for me. Ordered with rice but came with salad. A new meal was offered but my grandsons' meals were ready.

Then ordered desserts but they didn't have vanilla ice cream, so had to change the order. Pretty poor as most of the desserts had vanilla ice cream.

The pub wasn't busy when we ordered, but two other customers had the wrong meal, and another complained theirs was burnt.

To top it all, when I looked at the receipt when I got home I had been charged for an extra drink!

Will not be recommending Drake House Mill to anyone.

Han (City Centre) - Ray Atkins -

Rating:

Well, where do I start.

This must be the finest restaurant I have ever experienced, if you measure the after effects.

You know what I mean.

I have never known such indigestion, bloating and a sense of burning around the back of my throat, reflux I understand.

I can only put this down to additives within the sauces, as the result was far too quick to be bacterial in nature.

I would advise caution, take your own Gaviscon or stay home, cook a nice meal, drink nice wine and snuggle up with "the darling".

Beijing City (Greenhill) - Diane Chapman -

Rating:

I have been going to this restaurant for the past 11 years with a party of people from work and we absolutely love it.

The waiters are polite and friendly, the service is very good, and the food is the best in South Yorkshire. My husband and I have tried many other Cantonese restaurants and none are as good as this one.

Mama's & Leonie's (City Centre) - Carmen -

Rating:

I have been a visitor to Mamma's since a small child and still love it.

The food is fresh. Minestrone soup and garlic bread is the best in Sheffield!! Cath & John who own it are brilliant hosts, as are the staff, who are friendly and welcoming. It's nice to support small businesses instead of big chains. I myself have a small business and I know that Cath always recommends me to her customers, which is so kind of her.

The Prosecco and house wine is also very good.

Give it a try!

Dusty Miller (Barlborough) - Sylvia Blore -

Rating:

The best carvery for miles, with an extensive range of dishes to choose from. And if you have room, desserts are good, too.

TGI Friday's (Meadowhall Shopping Centre) - K Morris -

Rating:

Lovely meal and service whenever we go, but would like to thank Andy on Saturday who turned out to be the best service yet. He was fantastic, was there straight way if needed anything, and refill drinks were always topped-up with out being asked. He's a good asset to the TGI Friday's team.
