Bay of Bengal (Gleadless) - Des Nos -

Rating:

Just been for the first time and will go again. The food was excellent and the 660ml bottles of ice cold Cobra are fantastic, and cheap if you ask me.

Bay of Bengal (Gleadless) - Martin Kemp -

Rating:

Felt that the standard of food that was being served to me was not as good as the previous visit. I had the same dish, muroogh jalfrezi, and this time it was runny and not as spicy. Will try again though.

Las Iguanas (City Centre) - Susan Smith -

Rating:

Lovely food, and really friendly.

I went with my husband, son (2 1/2 years old) and daughter (1 year old) for my birthday treat on a Saturday lunchtime. It was very empty in there, but it didn't feel uncomfortable despite that.

The service was excellent. They allowed us to order for my son first and his food came slightly before our starters. I was given a free cocktail, as it was my birthday. The food was delicious and well cooked, and I would highly recommend it, particularly for a meal with children.

Browns (City Centre) - Susan Smith -

Rating:

Nice food, shame about the service.

When visiting Sheffield we arranged to meet friends for afternoon tea at Browns. Since there would be 5 adults and 3 young children I made sure I booked a table for 4PM.

We arrived on time but then waited at the front desk for 10 minutes before someone noticed us and came to seat us. Pots of tea came quickly, but food didn't turn up until 5PM. It was only sandwiches, scones and cake so it wasn't as if they needed to cook it!

Trying to get the bill was almost impossible. The waiter who was supposedly looking after our table did not look in our direction once in the 20 minutes I was trying to catch his eye. We eventually got the bill by asking a different waiter who then went and got our waiter to do it. Once we had the bill we spent a further 15 minutes trying to get the waiter to come back so we could pay it. In the end we gave up and went and sat the babies on the bar until someone there allowed us to pay.

All in all pretty disappointing.

Chutney (Gleadless) - Robbie Revell -

Rating:

Very disappointed with the meal. After waiting for a long period of time for my starter, my main course arrived first. It was cold, too!

Won't be going back - not organised enough. Need of more staff, stick to Rubeez.

Marco at Milano (Millhouses) - Marie -

Rating:

I was really looking forward to going to Marco @ Milano for my birthday, which my partner had surprised me with. I wore a new dress and felt great. Pity as soon as I sat down and ordered a drink the waitress tipped wine and beer all down me. I wasn't happy but thought I'd forgive, as it was an accident and carry on with the evening.

Unfortunately when it came to desert I had a piece of plastic mascarpone lid stuck on my gum. Great - it all had to happen to me in one night. They didn't even give me my meal on the house or give us a discount.

Not impressed and won't be going there again.

Koh-I-Noor (Handsworth) - Chris Armley -

Rating:

Hi, anyone interested in going to Koh-i-Noor you will not be disappointed.

First of all the food was amazing, especially the onion bhajis, and the lamb was great. My wife had chicken tikka masala, which was creamy and she said that it was very tender and fresh tasting.

The staff all made an effort and gave us complimentary ice cream and there was also a nice atmosphere with Bollywood entertainment.

I would recommend to anyone that knows what a great curry should taste like.

5 stars from me. See you soon.

Chutney (Gleadless) - Camilla -

Rating:

I love Chutney. Their curries are great and you can always have a great Indian takeaway with them!

45 minutes wait for takeaway but worth it!

Mamma Mia Pepe (Hillsborough) - Wendy Birks -

Rating:

We've been going to the various incarnations of this restaurant for nearly 20 years and it's one of our favourite places in Sheffield.

The food is excellent and reasonably priced (they also do a special offer menu on Tuesday to Thursday, which is great value).

The atmosphere is cosy and welcoming, and they will cook things just how you want them. We live locally, so to have something this good and consistent on our doorstep is something else.

Kashmiri Aroma (Woodseats) - Craig & Marie Harris -

Rating:

Since moving back to Sheffield after two years absence, we've been using the good Sheffield curry restaurants Aagrah, Chamaan, Mangla. But we decided to try Kashmiri Aroma after being told it was up there with Aagrah for food quality.

The info wasn't wrong. From wafer thin crisp poppadoms with pickle tray (complementary), through great fish starters, superbly subtle yet sometimes fiery mains, excellent breads and good coffee (a rarity in Indian restaurants), we couldn't find fault.

Decor is most pleasant and if the prices are a little above your Indian takeaways the food is miles above it and worth the bit extra.

Bay of Bengal (Gleadless) - J Goodwin -

Rating:

Any refurb is always cool and this was no different. Shame about the food - clearly making money is the main objective here.

Never mind - plenty more restaurants!

Bay of Bengal (Gleadless) - Phil Samson -

Rating:

What a load of old hype!. Was expecting 5* but got mediocre food. Fair enough everything is "new" and the service is fine but it is food that is my priority.

Bit gutted that my favourite tipple of Kingfisher was £3.75 a pint!

Must try harder.

Bay of Bengal (Gleadless) - Sarah Slimm -

Rating:

Was not impressed this evening when I tried to book a table for tomorrow evening. Was told by the member of staff answering the phone the I could have table at six o'clock but it would have to be vacated by 8 o'clock because they were busy.

Have been in the restaurant business for 28 years and consider this to be bad customer relations. Loved the restaurant on a previous visit but will be considering elsewhere for now!

La Taverna di Ferdinando (Greenhill) - Wendy Crookes -

Rating:

We were looking for a restaurant within walking distance and found Ferdinando's.

How lucky were we! The food was superb, the atmosphere was friendly and fun and the price was right. We will definitely become regulars to this great local eatery.

Jewel (Attercliffe) - Lucas -

Rating:

Beautiful food, great atmosphere, wonderful dining experience, this won't be the last time I visit. I really enjoyed the garlic cheese (that's what I think it's called) nan, it was amazing.

Definitely recommend you visit.
