The food is OK, if you get it that is.
The staff are so rude it's unbelievable. My sister, my father and I used to go every week for about a year. But the staff became unbearable so we stopped going.
They will shout at you, throw your bills on the table, over charge you, stand by and wait for tips. They all stand around each other speaking in Chinese, while they all look over point and laugh at you.
However if you are Chinese I would definitely recommend this place, because that's the only way you seem to get a nice service.
Have been to this restaurant a couple of times and have always thoroughly enjoyed it.
The staff are welcoming and the menu is extensive.
The portions are very generous and very tasty. Be warned, I would not order a starter if I were you, as you get so much complimentary food, e.g. marinated chicken wings, which are delicious. They also have seasonal dishes such as pheasant.

We visited El Paso on Saturday 19th September for our anniversary after reading all the good reviews on this website.
When my husband had booked the table he'd mentioned that it was our anniversary but to be honest I think the staff had forgotten this fact and we were too shy to mention it again.
When we arrived, we were shown to our table. It was around ten minutes before we were asked what we would like to drink (I'd discovered the drinks list on a table positioned next to us) and given a menu each.
The slight delay was fine by us, as we overheard that there was a Chilean party going on upstairs so the staff were quite busy directing guests etc... That said the service was still as attentive as it needed to be throughout the meal.
To begin with, my husband had Meatballs 'El Paso' and I had the Funghi Ripieni, which was mushrooms filled with tuna, garlic, parsley and mozzarella cheese. Both dishes were lovely and served piping hot, which was impressive considering a group of about 8 who had not booked beforehand placed their order at the same time!
For our main course we had carbonara (plus a side order of garlic bread with cheese) and Halibut Palta with vegetables and potatoes. My husband said his carbonara was nice but he had tasted better, however, he said the garlic bread was lovely. My halibut was delicious, as the fish meat just slipped off the bone. The vegetables were also cooked to perfection.
To finish, although we were quite full, I decided to have the profiteroles with a hot chocolate sauce - absolute heaven! My husband had a chocolate ice cream-based dessert (neither of us can remember the name of it now), which he said was really enjoyable.
The staff are very attentive and my wine glass was never empty, much to my regret the next morning! We were even invited to attend the Chilean party upstairs by one of the waiters but we politely declined, as we had had a long day. Very nice thought though. The waiters seem to love their jobs and one particular waiter (light skinned and tall) kept singing along to the music coming from upstairs, which made me giggle!
Overall a lovely night out but we couldn't help wondering how much nicer it would have been if they'd remembered it was our special night. Oh well, we'll just have to go back next year... if not before!

A+.
The best Chinese restaurant in Sheffield if you are looking for a high standard surroundings and high quality food.
Plus, they sell the cheapest wines within all the restaurants in Sheffield, including those good and luxury ones. The manager told us he can always get good bargains on it, thanks for his generous sharing. Just ask him for recommendations, really generous person.
My father has been their customer for almost 15 years, sometimes take us to try other restaurants, but always go back to Canton Orchard. Looking forward to my birthday party next month... I miss the yummy food there!
Surely, if you want cheap junk, I wouldn't recommend this Canton Orchard, you can certainly find those 'eat what you can' or noodle bars in town, not Ranmoor area.

We ended up at Silversmith's after finding out that Kumquat Mae had closed (all reviews had sounded spot on for what we'd had in mind). Silversmith's didn't sound too bad, liked the idea of local sourcing, and so we gave it a whirl for a celebration meal.
Initial impressions from approaching the restaurant were encouraging; the simple, white, unassuming building seemed quiet and welcoming. To be honest, the interior decor was a shock with its harsh black, white and red colour scheme, flooring spot lights, plastic flowers and something not quite right about the tables and chairs.
The food more than compensated for the surroundings: tasty combinations of flavours, clearly skilled cooking and presentation, just the right size portions and all tied up in a very reasonable bill. Excellent wine and prompt, polite service.
Overall: 8.5/10 (mainly limited by the decor).
We will definitely return, and recommend to others.

I stumbled passed El Paso by accident one day after work but what a pleasant accident it turned out to be. We decided to book El Paso for my birthday. Everything absolutely faultless, food out of this world and we were all made to feel so special - the waiter even sang to me (very embarrassing) and the staff were some of the friendliest I have come across. Received complimentary sambucas with the bill. If you fancy a real treat I suggest checking this place out. 10/10

I first came to Everest restaurant with my partner. We were so pleased with both the service and the food that we received. The staff were so friendly to us and we have been coming with our friends and family ever since then. I would strongly recommend people out there to try this restaurant, as it offers a wide variety of food to please everyone. Well done Everest.

We went for a meal on Saturday 15th September 2009 at Montagus, the a la carte restaurant at the Wortley Arms. The menu is very limited in choice, and after we placed our order we found it was also limited on quality and value.
The restaurant itself lacked any atmosphere. As the starters were so limited in choice we both chose the lamb kofta and salad as a starter. The starter was pleasant enough but was a tiny portion for the almost-£7-each cost.
The main menu choice was not very good. I have never been to a restaurant without a chicken dish on the menu or a selection of steaks. The only steak dish was a rib-eye, the only thing near to chicken was duck breast. We both went for the steak, which was served with chips, Caesar salad and tomatoes. We both asked for it well-done and it came medium. Also Caesar salads vary, we had anchovies (lots of them) over the salad. Neither of us like fish and we should have been warned on the menu. We returned the steak and asked for a salad without anchovies. The steak came back cooked. However it was fatty, small and very poor quality. For some £17-plus per main this was shocking. The lettuce when returned still tasted of the anchovies, which had clearly been removed and the original salad returned. We made our complaint known but the excuse of "we will have a word with our supplier" wasn't good enough. We had a £25-off voucher from a promotion yet still ended up paying an extra £45 for this meal that was awful.
To top it off we have both really felt "off it" today and suspect it was something to do with the meal. Would not go to this restaurant ever again, this is a place best avoided. I would give it 1/10. Simply awful.

I decided to go to Vito's after reading so many rave reviews of it on this website, but have to say that I disagree with the reviews.
I must first say that there was nothing "wrong" with my experience here; the service was good and friendly, the price was OK and none of the food was bad. However, there was just something distinctly bland, in my opinion, about the whole experience.
The restaurant itself felt very much like a 70s throwback in terms of decor, and then the food was just very uninteresting, and not particularly well-cooked (and certainly, again, reminding me of Italian bistros of the 70s). There was just nothing at all worthy of comment or note, sadly.

Me and my partner went here on Friday 31st July. The waiter was so lovely and very cheery. He was polite and extremely welcoming.
I had 2 glasses of sangria and my partner had a few San Miguels. The food was excellent. Cooked to perfection and full of flavour.
I had king prawns in garlic to start and my partner had chilli hot shot. I was amazed at the size of the prawns... they really were king size!
For main course I had paella and my partner had burritos. The portions were a very good size and again full of flavour. There was so much chicken and seafood in the paella, it was amazing!
For dessert we had chocolate pancake and pina colada ice cream. Again huge portions and great flavour. I also had a Tia Maria coffee.
When they brought the bill we got a complementary shot! In total the bill was just under £50. This is the best meal I have had in a long time. I will definitely be returning.
The food was so fresh and full of flavour and there was plenty of it. There is a huge choice of food on the menu! A+ 10/10. Can't say anything bad about this restaurant!

I didn't realise there is a such a nice Chinese restaurant in Sheffield, beautiful food, homely environment, big green garden and cosy decking! Canton Orchard was recommended by a friend after having a meal there, and my parents booked a day for a family party without any hesitance.

The Pie Night is a must and offers the best veggie pie in the Sheffield area. The food is of good standard and is fresh. The food tastes clean and is not clogged up with oil or cream unlike most veggie options.
The atmosphere is pleasant and relaxed and it's ideal for the lone business traveller (including females) or larger groups. It offers an excellent choice of drinks and has drinks that not even the likes of the St Paul's carries... which is staying something.
I would recommend a visit whether for Pie Night or otherwise, the food is good and varied.

Booked in advance for 5 people and asked for a nice table for a special celebration. We were given a table between the kitchen door and the toilet door. The kitchen was very noisy and the toilets generated an overpowering smell of air freshener every time the door was opened. It was dreadful. We complained and we were begrudgingly moved to a table for 4! Suffice to say we left. A popular restaurant that seems to have forgotten what customer service is.

We have dined twice recently at Silversmiths, sampling their fixed price (£15/3 courses) and a la carte menus. In both cases the bill came to about £30 per head, which included pre-dinner drinks, wine, and coffee. Very good for fine dining.
Food ingredients and cooking are of high quality, as is the attentiveness, good humour and helpfulness of the staff. The restaurant is well patronised, stylishly decorated and comfortable.

Having used Silversmiths for business clients, my daughter and I decided to book for a birthday celebration for ourselves.
Even though there were two larger parties in that night, the excellent service was not hindered in any way. Attention to detail, both by the owners/managers, and by the chef, was most evident.
The menu was selective and eclectic, and I could have chosen any of the dishes for the evening and been well-satisfied. The creative presentation of the food was a delight, and the food itself was carefully spiced and flavoured, served promptly and hot. I have not had such a good dining experience at this standard for a very long time.

My husband, daughter and I travelled to Sheffield from High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire this weekend to visit Sheffield University open day. We knew we were going to stay the night in Sheffield on Saturday so we looked at this website to see if we could find a nice restaurant.
The reviews we read for El Paso were so good that we rang the restaurant and booked a table. When we called to book, it was nice to hear such a friendly and welcoming voice on the telephone and we weren't disappointed when we arrived at the restaurant. We had a wonderful time - we were a long way from home and received a very warm welcome, had a really relaxing evening and the food was fantastic. All the staff were very friendly and extremely attentive and if we were ever to visit Sheffield again, we wouldn't think of going anywhere else. If you live in Sheffield and haven't been to El Paso, then you're missing out!

After seeing this restaurant on 'Kitchen Nightmares' we decided to visit... (like probably most 'foodies' in Sheffield!) And it was a great experience - their food fairly simple yet expertly cooked (and with a combination like that the chef knows not to overdo it with 'trendy sauces' or call the dish something stupid) and with good produce (their plum tart tatin was the best I'd ever tasted - and I'm not a dessert kind of person). So we decided to go again, this time for our anniversary...
Unfortunately the tart tatin had been removed from the menu... but because I'd loved it so much the first time, their chef said he'd make one especially for me... which again was amazing. Unfortunately I think other customers saw our special dessert and subsequently wanted one too!
I suppose some people might think the restaurant is quite pricey and the portions aren't massive - but it's quality you are paying for and as for the portions - to me they were just right... after all the meal does leave you wanting more...which is what good food is supposed to do... not leaving you feeling as though you've just eaten a whole whale.
For special occasions - this is the place.
We are yet to try the restaurant's other special evenings (pie night etc...) but it won't be long before we do.

My partner and I recently booked a table at Silversmiths (Saturday 16th May 2009) to find out for ourselves if it was as good as some of our friends had told us.
There was a lot of choice on the main menu (even the 3 for £15 menu looked good), the food was excellent and the service was very, very good indeed. Everyone who worked there had a smile on their face and this certainly helps to turn an evening out into a special occasion. We are definitely going back.
One final point, one which is often overlooked, the toilets are very clean and hygienic.

Went this lunchtime and it was appalling. To cut a long story short I had scampi, chips and peas and the chips were just warm the peas cold and not even cooked through, the scampi was watery inside. All in all quite awful. My wife's fish and chips were the same although her mushy peas looked as though they had been on the plate for hours. The kids' food was very lacklustre - sausage and chips, that's right just the one sausage accompanied by the tepid chips.
Some of the staff seemed OK but the majority of the waitresses were rude and surly.
Sent our food back and said we would not pay for it and no one bothered to find out why.
If the kitchen staff (can't call them chefs) can't even prepare frozen food properly they should resign - the culinary equivalent of Kwik Fit fitters.

We went for dinner on a Friday night a few weeks back. I am afraid I will have to disagree with other reviewers. I found the restaurant overpriced and the food was just OK. There is nothing great about this restaurant!
