Dilshad Tandoori Restaurant (Woodseats) - Jessica Stacey - 7th August 2011
Rating:

Amazing, love it! Best korma ever and excellent staff.

Jewel (Attercliffe) - Louise - 7th August 2011
Rating:

Reading the reviews, the restaurant didn't sound good. However, since it's a local business I decided to check it out for myself with friends and family.

Seeing it for myself it did not live up to the negative reviews. It was very pleasant and beautifully decorated, and as for the food it was of high-end Indian cuisine: it was presented well and tasted brilliant so there were no faults there.

I would definitely recommend that you pay a visit and don't be put off by the negative comments: check it out for yourself and see how fantastic the service is.

I hope this helps.

Lokanta (Broomhill) - Julie Shaw - 6th August 2011
Rating:

This was our first visit to Lokanta but it will not be our last.

The food is excellent, as is the customer service. The waiter was very attentive and we did not wait for very long for anything. All the meat was extremely tender and cooked perfectly as was the rice, fish and vegetable dishes.

The portions were quite large, too, and so it was also good value for money. We even tried a bottle of Turkish wine, which was also very good.

I look forward to going again soon with some friends.

La Gondola (City Centre) - Lisa shackleton - 4th August 2011
Rating:

Food was nice. I enjoyed the mushrooms for a starter and good old spaghetti Bolognese.

Enjoyed the night, waiter was nice, too.

Ashoka (Ecclesall) - Alex Moore - 4th August 2011
Rating:

I've been here a couple of times now and highly recommend it for a good curry in Sheffield - friendly staff, very tasty food and decent price as well.

It isn't the biggest place though, and quite narrow, so if you are in a group of more than 4 it probably isn't the best (as evidenced by other reviews here).

Plough Inn (Hathersage) - Greg Price - 1st August 2011
Rating:

We have been going to the Plough for many years and it has always been excellent. However, we popped in for a bar lunch today and it fell well short.

Despite not being busy the place was understaffed, with one waitress both serving food and serving at the bar, who was clearly flustered. When I was eventually served I was astounded to be charged £6.70 for one pint of bitter and one Diet Coke!

I asked for the menu but found that there was actually little we could afford so left without eating.

It seems that the Plough is trying to move upmarket, and whilst the food is still probably excellent, perhaps they should lower their sights for lunchtime bar food.

Hong Kong Wok (Heeley) - Katie Lee - 31st July 2011
Rating:

Cannot stress how good this place is! After going once we (both friends and family) go here as a treat after a hard week's work on weekends, or as a extra treat weekdays, too, for a nice lunch!

I have issues with eating out as I have an eating disorder and this place helped me eat out again. I have been going with my family at least three times a month since it opened. I've taken my friends to visit and non of them have complained or left unsatisfied! The food is good value for money and can be enjoyed in a modern Hong Kong-themed restaurant. The staff are really friendly and helpful.

Free ice cream or traditional Chinese dessert, too! Cannot get better than this!

Must try it!

Marco at Milano (Millhouses) - Mariam Raja - 28th July 2011
Rating:

I went to Marco at Milano recently with my family. Words can't describe how scrumptious and well prepared the food was. I really enjoyed my main course. I got the sea bass, it was delish. I certainly recommend everyone to go, the service was brilliant, too. It would be ever so hard to refuse to go again!

Well done Marco at Milano! I hope to come again soon.

Brasserie & Bar 59 (Rotherham) - Rebecca Norton - 26th July 2011
Rating:

Booked a meal here using a Groupon voucher and had a very pleasant time. The hotel looks a bit like an office block from the outside but the restaurant is nice, very fresh & modern. Food was lovely and my partner's steak was cooked exactly as he asked.

Service was good, maybe a little too good - we had two courses and were in & out in 45 minutes! Probably not the choice for a lingering romantic dinner but couldn't be faulted on food quality & service.

Rowsha (Walkley) - Jim Barter - 26th July 2011
Rating:

Excellent food, excellent service.

If the background music CD had been a tad quieter and hadn't kept skipping, I'd have given them 5 out of 5.

Chilango Mexican Kitchen (Meadowhall Shopping Centre) - Samantha - 25th July 2011
Please note: this restaurant is no longer trading.

Rating:

This eatery seems to have an identity crisis - it can't decide if it's fast food or a restaurant.

I visited with my partner on the advice of a friend, who said the food is good - and yes, it is. But it's just so expensive - around £7 just for a small-ish wrap with some meat, salsa and cheese - if you want guacamole that's an extra pound!

The wrap itself tasted good, but was more of a snack size than a meal, and two wraps with one drink came to over £16! As I wrote on the comment card, we could have gone to Nando's for the same price and had more than twice as much food. On top of this, you are expected to clear your own plates up afterwards - not really in-keeping with the price range and the restaurant-style decor!

The nicest touch is the choice of drinks - they offer the usual fizzy selection, but also a still lemonade and a very nice pomegranate and hibiscus juice, which is a welcome change from the usual Coke and Tango offerings.

I would recommend you avoid this place until they either lower their prices, or offer more for your money!

Everest Restaurant (Heeley) - Matt H - 23rd July 2011
Rating:

Fab restaurant! I have visited this restaurant many times and each time I have thought the food is absolutely delicious. The most striking thing about the food is its freshness and the flavours really come out owing to the attention to detail of the chef.

We are always welcomed and taken to a table straight away and have our drinks and poppadoms ordered within 2 minutes of sitting down, even though it was obviously busy.

There was an enormous range of food to choose from and we were spoilt for choice, which is rare for vegetarians! The food was delicious and had very generous portions. The waiters are always at hand to check if we want more drinks when we were empty and felt very looked after.

Overall I would definitely go there again and again as this is far the best Indian restaurant we have been to in Sheffield.

Kebabish Original (Sharrow) - Saba - 23rd July 2011
Rating:

Just for the sake I gave it 1 out of 5, which it doesn't deserve.

The place is good but the chef and employees are the worst. I am an Indian and this restaurant has no flavour of those dishes that they cook.

I won't tell me friends to go and have a lunch in this shop.

Bella Donna (Renishaw) - Ann & Craig McGaheran - 23rd July 2011
Rating:

I booked a table for my husbands 40th birthday and we weren't disappointed.

What a wonderful place, the food was amazing, the atmosphere relaxed and the staff very friendly and helpful and did everything they possibly could to make our evening special. We weren't rushed into ordering, or into finishing our meal and leaving.

Everything on their menu is freshly cooked to order. We are avid garlic lovers and asked if we could have extra garlic, which was no problem at all. In fact, nothing was a problem and Donna was the perfect hostess.

They even came out with a cake for my hubby and sang him happy birthday, which was so lovely and just made our experience that bit more special.

Will definitely be recommending this restaurant to our friends and family and will certainly be returning again ourselves very soon.

Uncle Sam's (Ecclesall) - Norman Todd - 22nd July 2011
Rating:

My wife and I have been visiting Uncle Sam's for 32 years. It is a lively, vibrant place to eat. The kids, now grown up, love the place. Although we live a long way from Sheffield we make a point of visiting at least 5 or 6 times a year. It is the only place on the planet I would eat burger and chips, simply because the quality of the food is superb.

To be fair we have had the odd grumble - about 3 in total, which isn't bad going in all the time we have been going. Daughter and son when asked where they wanted to go to eat as part of their graduation celebrations, opted for Uncle Sam's. Long journey but worth it. There are not many places that can boast such a long tradition.

They have only recently just tweaked the menu. A restaurant for everyone whoever they are or wherever they come from.

Coal Grill and Bar (Meadowhall Shopping Centre) - Hayden Taylor - 20th July 2011
Rating:

Ridiculous! Waited to be seated, waited for drinks, waited for food.

Customer service was frightful. Food was barely warm.

La Vida Loca (Hillsborough) - Brenda Elliott - 19th July 2011
Rating:

We went to try it with G groupon voucher a couple of months ago and really loved the food and service. Three of us are veggies and they did us proud. We are hoping to return this Saturday.

Highly recommended.

Rushour (Heeley) - Joanne Staniland - 17th July 2011
Rating:

My husband & I visited 16/07/2011 after reading about the restaurant in the Food & Drink Yorkshire 2012, as we didn't know the restaurant existed and we only work round the corner.

From stepping into the restaurant to leaving, the service was excellent and the staff very attentive. The meal was absolutely amazing and definitely value for money. We will definitely be returning.

Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Palkee (Woodseats) - Liz Ralph - 14th July 2011
Rating:

Was pleasantly surprised. This restaurant has been refurbished and is very pleasant.

I had a fish curry - it was wonderful - and my partner had a very nice mixed meat curry - Palkee special. Service was very good.

The restaurant is on Chesterfield Road and has had many incarnations. However, it is reasonably priced and very good Bengali food, and it deserves more customers than the three who were there when we went.

Golden Ball Inn (Rotherham) - Nathan Broadhead - 14th July 2011
Rating:

New menu and new head chef from what I'm told, and we were certainly impressed.

The meal last night (13th July 2011) is one of the best I've had at a pub for a very long time. I would highly recommend the sharing platter, and my mixed grill was excellent. The sea bass was very good, although my wife wished afterwards she had the steak after seeing other tables eating the rump/sirloin.

Very impressed with the quality and price, and will definitely be going again.
