Great restaurant, great food, great staff. Well worth a visit. Panahar (Nether Green) - Kelly Barker - 10th November 2011
Rating:
I have been visited Panahar many times, went there last night as well. Lovely food, excellent location & friendly staff. I had my "akbori sag masalla" - which was best curry I ever had in any Indian restaurant. Highly recommended! Popolo Bar Lounge & Kitchen (City Centre) - Julie Mills - 7th November 2011

Excellent location, excellent speedy service, lovely friendly staff, fabulous food at a reasonable price - would recommend to anyone. Yama Sushi Noodle Bar (City Centre) - Christophe Carty - 5th November 2011

Had a really wonderful first experience of sushi here. They were very helpful, kind and welcoming. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Thanks. BB's Italian Restaurant (City Centre) - Andrew Robson - 4th November 2011

Excellent food and atmosphere. Never had any problems with service. Have been a few times.

Tried this out early (6:30PM) on a Saturday evening, as we had to be elsewhere later. The restaurant is open 11AM to 11PM 7 days a week and lighter food or coffee etc... can be had during the day in addition to the evening menu. However its location, right at the Northfield Road end of the high street may make it a less than obvious place to stop for a snack/coffee. The restaurant is a family run affair and we were warmly welcomed by the manager on arrival. The menu is mainly of Greek/Turkish influence, the resident cook being South African but having lived a number of years in Greece. We were presented with complementary bread and dip on arrival and ordered Greek salad starters, both of which were simple but well presented and tasty. Between us we had main courses of beef stifado, sea bass and chicken kebabs with sweet chilli sauce (the latter being a special), all of which came with a choice of accompaniments (e.g. Mediterranean potatoes, rice, pasta, chunky chips). All these were perfectly cooked and tasty. We didn't have time to sample the desert menu but would certainly return to this restaurant for a more leisurely meal another time. Overall this is a very welcome addition to Crookes high street, which has recently been dominated by Indian restaurants/takeaways (one of which it replaces). The food is reasonable value for money, further helped by the fact that it is a "bring your own wine" with no corkage fee. La Romantica (Heeley) - Yvonne McDonagh - 2nd November 2011
Rating:
We have been visiting La Romantica for the last 20 years and have never been disappointed. It has a lovely 'old Italian' style to it, not like the new super-trendy restaurants, where the portions are minute and the prices are sky high! The food is excellent, served in generous portions and very reasonably priced. The staff there are always helpful too. Don't forget to book, or you might not get in, even on a week night! Jailhouse Restaurant at the Garrison Hotel (Hillsborough) - Linda - 26th October 2011

The lamb shank is wonderful, tender and slides off the bone like a dream. Friendly staff and all food is freshly prepared, which is nice to see. Highly recommended! Rib Shack (City Centre) - Tina Jefferson - 25th October 2011

My partner and myself went with a Groupon voucher for a two-course meal. After reading the reviews here we were a little apprehensive, however we needn't have worried. It is a fairly new venue and the decor is modern and comfortable. Our drinks order was taken quickly and promptly brought over. Main courses of chicken jambalaya and Cajun salmon were delicious and the portions plentiful. These were followed by banoffee pie and cheesecake, again ample portion size and delicious. An added bonus was the coffee that is included with any desert, (which our very helpful waitress pointed out to us) and these rounded off the meal perfectly. The staff were friendly, professional and attentive. Service was exceptional and the food excellent and we would happily recommend this restaurant. China Town Restaurant (Woodhouse) - Laura Adshead - 24th October 2011

I went to this restaurant with my husband and grandmother very recently and we had a fantastic evening and the food was outstanding! It was the best Chinese I've had in a long time and I cant rave about this place enough! There are only a few tables and it's relatively small, but that makes it cosy and the staff didn't just sit around waiting and watching us eat, which was nice. It is also a take away and they were constantly busy with takeaways so are obviously popular. The food is fantastic!

I went to Rossi's Italian restaurant last Sunday 16th October. We were 5, when we walked we were taken to the bar to have a drink and after that we were walked to our table. It was lovely and warm it made me feel like I was in Rome and not in Sheffield. The waitress, Maria, and the waiter, Alex, were nice and welcoming, which made us feel as if we were at home. We had starters and main course, which was out of this world. The best in Sheffield. I had Saliccia Italiano which was mega spicy but very nice. Then we had Spezzantino do filetto for main course, which was superb and out of this world. I finished of with a home made double chocolate cheesecake, which was better than sex. At the end we were offered a lemon liqueur on the house. Old Vicarage Restaurant (Ridgeway) - Maria De Nobrega - 22nd October 2011

Delightful Victorian country house with excellent food. Shapla Tandoori Restaurant (City Centre) - Caroline Feedman - 20th October 2011
Rating:
I have been visiting the Shapla restaurant since it opened. The oldest family-run restaurant in the city. Mr Malik, the restaurant owner, provides an excellent service every time I go with family and friends. The atmosphere, food and hospitality is five stars plus. I have visited many other Indian restaurants across the city, but Shapla is number one for me and my family and friends. Rib Shack (City Centre) - Denise - 19th October 2011

Wonderful food, good service, but be very careful. Didn't check the bill, gave a big tip to the waitress, got home and they had charged us for another main course (£19.99). Tried calling them - engaged! When I was in the restaurant I thought it was absolutely wonderful, service great, food super but just check your bill on departure. Barrett's Bistro (Beauchief) - Pat Clarkson - 19th October 2011
Rating:
After eating here for the fourth time we had yet another fantastic family meal. Barrett's caters for all ages ranging from 4 years to 60 years and nothing is too much trouble. I recommend for Hen nights, anniversaries, birthdays or just a romantic meal for two, we have done them all. The standard of food and service is second to none. I recommend the game terrine. Menus are changed frequently so there is plenty of variety and everything is cooked fresh and is very well presented. Thank you once again. Little India (Gleadless) - Alex Cotton - 16th October 2011

Amazing prawn special. Can't fault this place!

If you want poor quality, over-priced food served by people who don't show any interest in what they look like or care about their customers, be given a broken, dirty, plastic menu, seated at a very small table with with paper napkins, no heating and nowhere to park your car then this is the place for you. Rib Shack (City Centre) - Rebecca Crookes - 16th October 2011
Rating:
The worst meal I have ever had. We got seated at the table then the waiter left us, not even asking if we wanted drinks. Another 20 minutes went by and still no one had come to us so I asked if we could order. She took our drink and food order and left and didn't return for 15 minutes with the drinks. All the staff were just stood about talking to each other. Food portions were very small. We got served 2 wrong meals and my daughter's "well-done" burger was pink. Save your money and go elsewhere. Rubbish service, rubbish food and very expensive. We won't be going again! I would give a no star rating but 1 is the lowest. Kashmiri Aroma (Woodseats) - John & Liz - 16th October 2011
Rating:
We arrived without a booking on a busy Saturday night and were still accommodated and made welcome. Very good menu and food was excellent. Not overly expensive. Will definitely return. Rib Shack (City Centre) - Kevin Roberts - 12th October 2011

A truly shocking experience. Terrible venue with poor management, no atmosphere and poor food. We purchased a Travelzoo voucher valued at £70 for £29. We ought to be over the moon with a deal like that, but sadly the food was a major let down. When asked about their web site, the manager said they didn't have one. Unbelievable! This is the kind of new start up that will fold quickly. Avoid! More reviews:
