We had meze, it was £15 each and perfect. The food was all lovely and thanks to the massive quantities, they boxed it up for us and we just had the leftovers as a full meal today. Lovely food. Excellent value for money. Great service. Good atmosphere. Best Greek in Sheffield without question. Darcy's at Mosborough Hall (Mosborough) - Tracy Lambert - 29th December 2010

Rating: We booked a table for 10 people for a special celebration. The meal and the service were a big let down. There seemed to be only 3 waitresses on that night and one of the two that were assigned to our table was very abrasive to say the least. It was as though she was doing us a big favour! A roast dinner was served without vegetables and then took 15 minutes to bring the vegetables to table when it was brought to their attention. Meals were cold and we were just forgotten about. Will not be dining there again and will definitely not recommend to others. Bella Roma (Hillsborough) - Philip Cooper - 28th December 2010
Rating:
Went just before Xmas. The place was very under-heated, and there were not many customers - 11 in total - yet it still took 30 minutes for simple starters to arrive. Steak Diane at £15.99 came with no vegetables, just frozen French fries! The manageress just said she'd worked in lots of restaurants and none served vegetables with steak! Well I've eaten in lots of restaurants and always had vegetables with my steak. It was a pity that for 50p of vegetables this could have been a good meal, the steak was excellent. Her attitude on leaving was disgusting, talking loudly to staff so that we could hear. Can't see this place stopping open much longer! Zeenat (Attercliffe) - Craig & Joanne Roberts - 25th December 2010
Rating:
I ordered a takeaway from Zeenat and was so impressed. Best tasting curry I have ever eaten. Very quick delivery and everything was hot and fresh, with plenty to go around. The people there are so polite, haven't seen manners like this for along time. Absolutely fantastic. A+ Patoo (Hunters Bar) - Karen & Steven Bannister - 23rd December 2010
Rating:
We really enjoyed our meal at Patoo, the food, atmosphere and service made us feel extra special. The staff are friendly and the restaurant offers a wide variety and selection of food. We have friends coming to visit in the New Year and we will be treating them to an evening at Patoo. Bella Roma (Hillsborough) - Barbara Wilson - 21st December 2010
Rating:
We held our work's Christmas dinner party at Bella Roma on 20th December 2010. Avais, Jeanette and the team couldn't do enough for us. The food was very good - and included 16 steaks, all served at the same time and cooked just as everyone requested. The background music pitched just right and the staff were friendly and efficient. It proved a real success with everyone. Al Carretto (Heeley) - Mattie Unwin - 19th December 2010
Please note: this restaurant is no longer trading.
Rating: I would just like to say ignore the comment previous review, as it is a load of rubbish. Al Carretto has to be the best Italian restaurant I have been to in the world, so listen to this comment and not the previous one. Also I would recommend the garlic bread pizza.

Had work Xmas meal Saturday evening. The restaurant was heaving, so expected a long wait for food. This was not the case. Extremely organised and efficient, good atmosphere and the food was amazing. Every dish cooked to perfection - one of the nicest meals I have ever had!

First time to this restaurant, and the last time. There was a party of six of us and we were squashed in a 'booth' with the three of us at the back only able to get out by squeezing out of a small gap at the end. Poppadoms arrived and were burnt around the edges and smelt greasy. I ordered a Prawn Puri for starters, it was very different to any I'd had before, quite creamy but maybe that was the style the restaurant used. It didn't taste too bad, just too creamy. One of the other guys complained about his Chicken Tikka starter, as it was a little burnt and there was hardly any chicken. A couple of the other starters looked a little too 'well done'. A couple of us were driving so just had glasses of coke. They were almost filled to the rim with ice, so we asked for drinks without it but they tasted very weak. Just before they were to serve the main course they told us they had no egg rice, so I chose mushroom rice - it came and was very stodgy. My Saag Gosht was OK, but some of the lamb tasted a little fatty. My Chapatis were almost like folded Naans - nothing like the light Chapatis I would have expected. When the bill came there were some extras on there that that we queried - apparently if you order your chicken as Tikka they add extra cost to the bill! The only really positive thing I could say was that the owner was very friendly. Ask Pizza & Pasta (City Centre) - M Casson - 18th December 2010

I booked a table for 24, and on the day I checked that all was OK. Upon arrival only one waiter was serving, and a waitress sat and had a meal ignoring us. It took twenty minutes to get a drink, the food arrived on cold plates, and some people had not had a starter when others were being asked what they wanted for desert... total chaos. We finally gave up and left. I complained and was offered six free mains on my next visit. There will not be a next visit. I also wrote to head office and received no reply. Avoid, avoid, avoid. Patoo (Hunters Bar) - Paul - 17th December 2010

It was very exciting to see the menu, as we have had Thai in many places and most offer simple curry with chicken, pork or beef and stir-fried, which we usually order. We had their seafood signature dishes i.e. lobster in green curry sauce and New Zealand mussel hot lips. They are absolutely beautiful meals, which is very hard to find the good place for fresh seafood. Whole lobster (1lb) costs only £18. Mussels served as our starter were very tasty and of course with Singha beer. We will be back again! British Oak (Mosborough) - Mark Walker - 16th December 2010
Rating:
The Oak is a lovely warm pub with very attentive landlord and landlady. The hours of opening are different to any in the your information, as it only opens for tea Tuesday through Friday at 4PM, 2:30PM Saturday and 12PM Sunday, for the best Sunday lunch I've had. It's all fresh veggies and real mash spuds with a choice of meats. Value for money at £7 for large and £4.50 for small. The beer and lager are always good with a choice of Smiths, Fosters, Kronenbourg, Amstel served in ice cold glasses, Theakston, Guinness, cider. I suggest a visit. Keep an eye on their notice board for live bands as well. Aagrah (City Centre) - Lyn Cairns - 13th December 2010

We booked a table 2 weeks in advance and were told upon arrival that the waiting time would be over 1 hour! The staff were not apologetic and we were not offered free drinks. The place was chaos, with quite a lot of other people waiting excessive periods of time for their tables. It was clear that they had overbooked, and were trying to squeeze in as many diners as possible... greedy! We ended up walking out after waiting for 45mins. I think this restaurant is over rated and will not be returning to any of the Aagrah chain of restaurants. Blue Moon Cafe (City Centre) - Janet Morris - 12th December 2010
Rating:
First visited at lunchtime a couple of weeks ago and was impressed, so visited for a hot meal after shopping in Sheffield on 11/12/10 about 4:30PM. There was not much to choose from, no rice or jacket potatoes available and we were still charged full price. Food was also only luke warm. Overall a disappointing meal and we wished we had gone somewhere else. Hei Moon (Hillsborough) - Anna - 11th December 2010

We have been here a few times, it's pleasant enough for an evening out but I wouldn't go there for a special occasion. Last time, my starter arrived long before my husband's, then my main arrived when my husband had eaten half of his - we were not very impressed with that! If you live nearby and fancy a cheapish meal or a carry out, it's OK. Mama's & Leonie's (City Centre) - Elyse Seaton - 9th December 2010
Rating:
After reading the other reviews I felt compelled to disagree! We walked in one Saturday lunchtime in April/May 2010 (can't remember exact date but snooker was on). We being couple and 3 children. We were seated quickly and very luckily, as the place was heaving. Myself and the children love Italian, my husband is not really bothered! He loved his meal and I have just looked this restaurant up to come solely to Sheffield for! We all loved the food and we do eat out a lot! My only issue was downstairs is very small. Inn at Troway (Troway) - Craig Chisell - 9th December 2010

Went again last night (19th December), having been numerous times before. No problems, food was great & good service. Aizah's Indian Restaurant (Attercliffe) - James Wilson - 7th December 2010

Rating: Excellent service, very nice food, very polite staff, beautiful decor. Really satisfied. Will be back again. Aizah's Indian Restaurant (Attercliffe) - Ruhsar Aslam - 6th December 2010
Please note: this restaurant is no longer trading.
Rating: Excellent service, nice friendly staff, great atmosphere to eat in. Would definitely recommend for a great meal out. Will definitely be going again! Bar & Grill (City Centre) - Rob Geeves - 5th December 2010
Rating:
We were looking for a nice place to eat to get a decent steak without going too far from our hotel, stumbled into the Bar and Grill. Must say this has to be some of the best service I have experienced, friendly and attentive, without being invasive. Wine list, not massive, but not overpriced - we very much enjoyed their Chardonnay. Soup of the day was spiced parsnip, sounded iffy - they sent a bowl out to try - lovely. I had the duck spring rolls to start, followed by the biggest fillet I've ever seen! Served on a wooden platter with hand-cut chips and homemade onion rings, superb batter. If you're looking for a place to eat in Sheffield, I would heartily recommend this one. We spoke to the couple on the table next to us when we arrived, they were both raving about a haddock risotto, and a mushroom one, not my thing, but there for the non-meat-eaters out there!
