Restaurant name:

Hui Wei (City Centre) - Elizabeth Clark 11/4/2006
Hui Wei has a lovely atmosphere with mood-lighting and gentle jazz music, and attentive service. The food was amazing - the chicken pieces melted in my mouth - and it's quite reasonably priced if you go for the set menus. Everything tasted fresh and authentic, a far cry from fatty, oily, takeaway Chinese food and all-you-can-eat buffets.

Exchange Bar & Grill (City Centre) - Tracey Siddle 3/3/2006
Exchange Bar & Grill compliments good food with a pleasant aura. The food is of a decent quality although the portion sizes can vary, for example the Boston Meatloaf which is incredibly moreish makes the fishcakes look like a starter. I have been both at a lunch time and for an evening meal and the lunch menu is good value too at £7 for two moderately sized courses. Definitely one for regular attendance.

Noodle King (Hunters Bar) - Tracey Siddle 3/3/2006
Fast food, Thai style really sums it up. Overall the food wasn't bad, and fundamentally the ingredients were fresh although there was room for improvement (burnt noodles, I need say no more.) However the menu was varied and the opportunity to choose which meats/noodles was agreeable. Noodle KingNoodle King is ideal for a quick meal before going out, in pleasant "modernist" surroundings.

Vijay's Indian Restaurant (City Centre) - Gary Brown 1/3/2006
Excellent food and exceptional service at reasonable prices.

Las Iguanas (City Centre) - Peter 20/2/2006
Great decor and ambiance, the food is good if not great - definitely try the steak, it is wonderful! The cocktails are a bit expensive as well, as are drinks in general (to make it cheaper, try the 2 courses for £7 lunch/early evening). Nonetheless a cool place to have a drink or a bite to eat.

Blue Room Brasserie (Woodseats) - Danielle Birchall 19/2/2006
Good food, BUT very, very smoky and appalling service. Never again.

La Gondola (City Centre) - Angie Waltham 14/2/2006
This is the friendliest Italian restaurant to visit, from staff to management (Deano is always ready with the wine). The staff cannot do enough to help and make your night enjoyable (Jed you are the best). The food is excellent (Pepo I love your food), great value and you don't have to wait long to be served. The atmosphere is brilliant, from a good old knees-up if you are celebrating, to a nice romantic night for two I guarantee you will have a great night at La Gondola and will definitely visit again.

La Scala (Millhouses) - Matt Newsome 26/1/2006
This has to be one the least pretentious places to eat in Sheffield, authentically decorated with a pleasant atmosphere the friendly staff make you feel welcome yet leave you to your own devices. The food is typical Italian, pastas, breads and fantastic steaks. I have been here 5 or 6 times and never been disappointed.

This little treasure is hidden away on Campo Lane behind the Cathedral. If you have the time (and money) to browse the estate agents then you may already have found it.

A great spot for lunch, rub shoulders with the barristers solicitors and general business types in the dining room if that tickles your fancy - but this is an easy going place, why I go there so much I guess, the staff are great whoever you are.

There is an inventive Tapas menu both day and night, and the evening menu in the dining room is excellent. The place seems to get busier every time I go, but it's not a chain and somehow combines cosiness with cool through its individual interior.

Vito's Italian Restaurant (Walkley) - Lauren Taylor 30/12/2005
I first visited Vito's Italian Restaurant with my partner to celebrate Valentines day. To be honest, I had never even noticed it before although I drive past nearly every day! We decided to go as friends had recommended it to us!

The food was absolutely delicious. For my main I had lamb, which simply fell off the bone. It was served with a selection of vegetables and potatoes. My partner had Seabass, which he said was fantastic! Vito's is also very well-know for its gorgeous selection of wines from all over the world! We settled for a lovely bottle of Rioja, which went down fantastically with my lamb!

The whole visit was wonderful. The staff and atmosphere made it a very romantic evening and one that we both would not forget.

Since our first visit, we have been back three times and every time the food has been great! I would certainly recommend Vito's.

Chiquito (Attercliffe) - Leann 26/10/2005
Great food and atmosphere. All the staff are really friendly, and because we went for a leaving party they put balloons all around the table for us. The drinks were cheap, too, and the food portions were large and I would say value for money.

If you were wanting a taste of Mexico I'd say don't book a flight, go to Chiquito!

Kurdistan Restaurant (Burngreave) - Nima 24/10/2005
There's a nice setting and a friendly staff serving Persian/Iranian and Kurdish food. The quality of food can be better, or at least I have tried better Persian/Iranian food before but still quite good for those who're not familiar with Persian cuisines. Try to test the vegetarian menu as well.

Shiraz (Carter Knowle) - Simon Green 24/10/2005
Shiraz must be one of the few Persian restaurants serving Persian/Iranian food. Great atmosphere where you can get many Persian traditional cuisines as well as Iranian Chai, sweet and waterpipes (Ghalyun in Persian).

There's Persian music on weekends and at times everyone starts dancing in the main area. There are also beds/divans where you could have Chai and smoke waterpipe (Ghalyun). It is recommended if you know few words in Persian you usually get a discount for that! Prices are reasonable, too.

Zing Vaa (City Centre) - David Redden 23/10/2005
Location is a bit hidden but once you get down there, you will be amazed how spacious the restaurant is. Very good for private functions. The food is excellent, and you MUST TRY Dim Sum on Sundays. Dim Sum is like Tapas but in a Chinese version. Absolutely packed with Chinese people on Sunday lunchtime so you may have to reserve a table if you wish to try out the famous Dim Sum.

Mangla Restaurant & Takeaway (City Centre) - Glyn Barker 15/10/2005
Top Indian, one of the best I've been to, and believe me I've been to quite a few. Mangla Restaurant & Takeaway is very friendly and gives A1 service.

East Ocean Cafe (City Centre) - James Warner 11/10/2005
Found this restaurant on the top of Matilda Street near The Moor and have since been three times and each experience has been excellent. It is a known as a fusion restaurant as it has Thai, Chinese and Japanese cuisine. At first, I wondered how it would work but the combinations of having sushi for starters with a Thai salad and your mains consisting of sizzling steak and Thai Red Curry is very appetizing. My group of friends were all very pleased with the service and atmosphere and this is how a restaurant should be. Give it a try!

Seasons Bistro (Sharrow) - Glyn Jones 5/10/2005
A newly opened restaurant serving modern British cuisine at very low prices. The food is excellent, and the serving style of food is to the highest standards with very good sized portions. Staff service is also excellent. A good night out for your money - well recommended.

Walnut Club (Hathersage) - Glenn Chapman 29/9/2005
Upmarket, wonderful food (it's organic), great location and place, perfect jazz, conclusive champagne and wine list... If you're looking for something special in Sheffield/North Derbyshire, this is the place without doubt!

Ashoka (Ecclesall) - Will 27/9/2005
I have been going to this place for the last 15 years and I'm still going! Very welcoming and professional, but horrible waist-coats. I really enjoy Indian food and in the past I've got to eat at a lot of them up and down the country due to work commitments and you'd be hard pressed to beat Ashoka. Just try one dish if you go - the Kashmiri lamb bhuna - absolutely divine! It is more expensive though than a normal Indian meal. CUT YOUR PRICES!

Casanova Pizzeria Ristorante (Crookes) - Rachel Brown 8/9/2005
My most favourite restaurant! From a quiet night out to a celebration evening, we always end up there. The chilli garlic bread is to die for. The steak is always melt-in-the-mouth and the pasta dishes are cooked to perfection. A lovely, friendly atmosphere with staff that are always eager to please! Try it, you won't regret it.
