I had a great meal here the other day. The staff were really friendly, and the pork Sunday lunch was spot on; tender pork with lots of crackling, stuffing and apple sauce. I'd really recommend making the journey to this place, it's a real gem.

On recommendation from a friend I recently made a trip to the Robin Hood Inn at Stannington for a meal with a friend.
I must admit that whilst making the journey down the long lane to the pub I did begin to wonder if I had been sent on a wild goose chase, but on arrival into the pubs car park I was so pleasantly surprised by the lovely stone building and lovely large outside seating area that the journey was soon forgotten.
The pub is for me what public free-houses should all be about. A mixture of local characters having their regular pint and those there to enjoy a good wholesome, home cooked meal.
The food and service were both fantastic! I went for a more classic pub grub dish of steak and chips whilst my friend (a vegetarian) opted for a goats cheese parcel from the specials board. My steak was the nicest I have ever eaten! My friend enthused about the fact that it was such a pleasure to go to a pub and be able to get a vegetarian meal that not only tasted fantastic but was adventurous and so clearly prepared and cooked fresh. Our desserts were to die for (bannoffee pie and sticky toffee pudding) and once again clearly homemade and not from the microwave.
It is nice to find a pub that has managed to retain its character and the spirit whilst providing restaurant quality food! It is well worth going out of your way for and I could not recommend it highly enough.
