My friends and I went to Felicini for a relaxing celebration birthday party.

The waiters were very friendly and our drinks arrived promptly, however it all went downhill from there. When the food arrived mine was lukewarm and as I had carbonara the cream had congealed and I had to leave most of it. The poached egg was stone cold and wasn't at all nice. We ended up sharing some pizza which was the warmest thing on the table.

Very disappointed overall and wasn't prepared for the bill at the end of the evening. The only star is for the waiter who was lovely.

My daughter asked to go to Felicini for a celebration following her graduation. We had eaten there before and had a good time.

The place was heaving with a sprinkling of staff running around like blue a**ed flies. Drinks took over half an hour to arrive, with some of our party of nine left thirsty, requiring intervention on 2 occasions to quench our thirst.

Starters took another half an hour, again with one person overlooked. The garlic prawns were stone cold - we still don't know if that was deliberate.

2 hours after arriving we still didn't have our main courses and when they did arrive, they were all unacceptably cold.

The staff were all working hard, polite and apologetic but in the end we had to get up and leave (the first time I have ever done that in my life). We decamped to Pizza Express down the road and had a really good time.

The single star is for the staff who were working like Trojans.

Difficult to find any "if onlys". On Saturday evening we were shown to a table and ordered starters only, including the platter.

The food was all good and the anchovies were amongst the best ever. Service was good - we even had a guest arrive after we'd eaten and we then had a bottle of Prosecco.

All no problem. Cheap it is not, good value it was.

Great food, good surroundings and superb staff who were attentive without being annoying and made the evening special for us. We will definitely be back! Thank you very much indeed

After having seafood risotto for lunch; about 2PM, on Friday 11th December. By Friday night I was violently sick, the vomiting stopped. I then spent the night laid on the bathroom floor waiting for the next bout.

I then spent the day in bed suffering terrible stomach cramps, rather than with the kids at a Santa's Grotto.

I telephoned the restaurant Saturday evening only to be told I need to visit a doctor (mine or the walk in centre) on the Sunday, on the Sunday! And leave 'the relevant samples' after which the directors of the restaurant would address the issue once the tests results where returned to me.

As if...

I should add here that; although all I had eaten that day was Shredded Wheat and banana and had to drink was water, two coffees and one glass of coke all day - I may NOT have become ill from the food eaten at Felicini.

Needless to say I will not be visiting my doctor or the walk in centre, as I thought that food poisoning is out of your system within 24 hours.

What do you think?

I have eaten at Felicini many times now and I have to say, the experience just gets better and better. Wonderful setting and decor, fantastic food and decent prices for the quality.

Before you are seated at your table, there is the opportunity to sample some of the finest cocktails available on Ecclesall Road. Costing between £6 and £7, there are cheaper places but these are special - I particularly recommend the mojito, but all are made using fresh ingredients and taste amazing.

Once seated, you are presented with the menu - there is a varied selection of dishes but unlike many other Italians, the menu isn't swamped with the 'usual' Italian choices - there's everything from risottos to pizza to fish dishes. All are cooked fresh and presented perfectly. Unlike other restaurants, you are not given gargantuan portions of food - the focus here tends to be on the quality of ingredients and combination of flavours, which I consider to be the two most important factors of restaurant eating. Sure, there are more fancy Italian restaurants in Sheffield (Marco @ Milano and the Ivory) but none can match Felicini on value for money. 2 course meal for two and drinks came to just over £45.

But the most notable part of the dining experience at Felicini has to be the service. Too often in the past has my evening been let down by rude staff, sloppy service and silly mistakes. The staff at Felicini are well-presented, polite, swift and always happy to go out of their way to help you. You need only to make brief eye contact and they are over at the double. For this reason, I always tip generously, as the staff have truly earned it.

All in all then, a great dining experience at a great price. If you haven't eaten there yet, I strongly recommend it. However, make sure to book a few days in advance as it normally very busy.

Visited on 9th July 2008 and found the food good but somewhat expensive.

Interesting modern surroundings and busy which I never find a good excuse for slow service!

Ordered a steak and was charged £3 extra for the chips although some items came with the chips i.e. moules.

However, the crunch came when the bill included 55p for the mustard! Half a spoon maybe. Chips were poor, mainly skins not much potato. I spent over £50 so did not leave a tip because of slow service and I thought the charge for the chips and mustard more than compensated.

Long time before I visit again.
