10 of us visited on Thursday 29th December 2011. None of us would rate the food higher than the 1 given.

Nice guy who runs the place, but bland food with no hint of fresh spices or coriander. To make matters worse, it wasn't cheap.

On a positive note, the nan bread was fabulous.

Fantastic food, very friendly staff. Seriously looking forward to my next visit.

Really, really enjoyed it. I would gladly recommend it to anyone.

This place never fails to deliver excellent food with a caring, professional service. The waiters are all friendly and helpful, and even my husband, who is not really a curry fan, enjoys the food. They'll cook it to your specification, and I'd encourage anyone to try it.

They also do a takeaway service, which is just as good.

Best curry house I've been in!

I wonder if Ann is talking about the same place also! The other restaurant mentioned is on the opposite side of Sheffield!

Would say I've had the opposite experience. Over the last 2 years, I've become good friends with the guys at this place as a regular, and that's simply because they provide excellent food with excellent service and with a friendly touch whenever I need them to. They all really care about what they do and how they can be even better. I think the dishes all have quite individual character, and I've had the majority of them probably.

Like the other reviewer, I take other people here, and they all often end up suggesting Bangla Cottage on the next occasion, including my parents. Eat in and out lots, both great experiences. Bangla is on tap inside, which is a nice addition.

Highly recommended to try, and not particularly expensive.

Just cannot agree with Ann, below. Perhaps she has never been to Bangla Cottage, since there is not a restaurant named the 'Star of India' in the locale, either.

We get a take-away from Bangla Cottage on a regular basis and it has always been faultless. Eaten in a couple of times and always really enjoyed it. We even have requests from friends and relatives to go there when they visit because they love it so much.

The chef's specials like the Monchorian Chicken are a delight. The staff are very welcoming and friendly, too. The clean, modern restaurant style means that this is a stylish great value place to dine out at as well as get a late night curry.

Will never go again. Had the most boring, bland and tasteless food and it was served cold so had to be sent back.

It was supposed to have green peppers and tomatoes, spices, ginger and garlic... no hint of any! And the green peppers and tomatoes were served raw, just plonked on top of the curry!

Awful and a waste of money. The Star of India offers much better food and it's tasty!

We've been a few times now and we're always welcomed with warm and friendly service. The food is constantly at a high standard and we've never walked away without feeling that we've made the right choice. A great place to dine!
