One star for the waitress and for the freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
The restaurant empty when others in Leopold Square were full. Food was poor. Margarita pizza was just a circle of dough with a drizzle of pesto and a few blobs of cheese, topped with a few chunks of tomatoes. Lasagna was very dry with one layer of pasta on the bottom and then the sauce and topped with about 6 layers of pasta all stuck together.
We did complain but were told that this was Popolo's interpretation of the dishes. Perhaps they need to re-interpret the dishes.
Very badly handled.

Had a meal on Friday 26th March 2010.
We had potato skins & pizza bread to start - food was delicious. Lovely & hot, great service.
For mains we had salmon pasta & calzone. Again, food was delicious, not long to wait between courses.
For pudding we had tiramisu & cheesecake - cheesecake was to die for! Fantastic.
Staff were great – nothing was too much trouble.
Would definitely recommend. 10/10

I was very disappointed when I recently visited Popolo with three friends.
For a starter I ordered the garlic mushrooms served on toasted home made bread - what I actually got was garlic mushroom with what can only be described as a large crouton served on the side. One of my friends ordered large flat mushrooms with a cream and dill sauce - what she received was large mushrooms topped with mozzarella cheese and spinach on toasted bread!
Two of our party, including myself, ordered the beef stroganoff for mains but had to send them back because the food was cold. When the plates returned the portion size had dramatically shrunk and the stroganoff has no sauce whatsoever. At this point one of my friends had tried her dish, chicken breast rolled in mozzarella and bacon to find it was packed with sage leaves and because of the overpowering taste of this strong herb was unable to eat it.
The manager did allow us to choose again from the menu which meant that one person was eating their main while three were waiting for their meal to be cooked again.
I was disappointed that having spent just under £93 for lunch nothing was knocked off the bill and no complimentary drink was offered. However I must say that the waiting staff were very friendly, efficient and could not apologise enough!
