Reasonable food but terrible wait.
A group of 8 of us waited from 8:30PM until 9:20PM for drinks to arrive. First course was 9:45PM and some had cleared their plates before the extra portions of vegetables ordered turned up.

Brilliant food, atmosphere and service. Would recommend for functions or night out.

I have just visited this restaurant and found a hair in my food. Obviously I complained to the head waiter and was given no satisfactory apology. Don't bother spending any money here

I would definitely recommend 23 Bar & Restaurant! I went with my boyfriend and we were both really impressed. It's got a great atmosphere, it feels special but is laid back and has friendly but professional service.
Every course was perfect and we had a good bottle of wine for about £12. The menu was slightly different from the one on their website, but just as good and had the bonus addition of sticky toffee pudding in the desserts! It was good having the bar downstairs for after dinner drinks, too. We will be going again soon!

Took my girlfriend to 23 Bar and Restaurant last month for a romantic meal. Fantastic bar and restaurant with a lovely Mediterranean feel. Reasonable prices, excellent food and brilliant customer service. I was really hugely impressed.

We were a party of 9 visiting Sheffield from Hull for my daughter's graduation ceremony. We arranged for a meal to round off the celebrations.
We were all extremely impressed with the decor and on arriving, my mother, who we had just managed to get to walk down a long street, was rather the worse for wear and asked if she could use the lift. They gladly cleared the lift of some chairs being stored and left them out so that she had no difficulty if she wanted to use the lift again.
In the restaurant we were served by a lovely young lady called Rachel, who was very attentive (although being a Monday night there were only two parties in). The menu was very homely with starters such as black pudding with a poached egg on top and main courses such as steaks and my favourite lamb shank on a bed of mashed potato with a lovely rosemary jus (or gravy to the less educated amongst us).
My brother-in-law kindly bought two bottles of champagne for us to celebrate Becky's achievements, which went down very well. Only my son had room for a pudding so we just ordered a sticky toffee pudding (he polished off the lot) and a cheese board for us all to have a little nibble at. Rachel brought a pile of side plates to allow it to be shared as we saw fit.
The whole bill (excluding champagne) came to slightly over £200 for nine of us - all having at least two courses and drinks - fantastic value in comfortable surroundings.
Pity we can't pick this restaurant up and drop it in Hull city centre - we would be regulars!

We had a lovely meal at 23 Bar and Restaurant, it was a busy Friday night and there were 26 of us.
The food was delicious and well presented. The menu catered for all tastes and the two and three course set meals were extremely good value. Service was prompt and attentive, despite the large number at our table. The atmosphere was buzzing with music from the bar downstairs and I would not hesitate in highly recommending it as a venue for a good night out! Will definitely be returning soon.

What a disappointment! The service was poor and our waitress was slow and quite rude when I complained that my starter hadn't arrived.
I ordered goats cheese and pepper cannelloni for my main course with a tomato and onion side salad. The cannelloni looked like a cheap microwave meal and the portion was very small. The tomato salad came in something not much bigger that an egg cup!
I ordered a desert of rhubarb crumble, absolutely disgusting, I couldn't eat it.
All in all it's overpriced, the portions are too small and the staff are poor. I left hungry and I won't be going back.
