I could not agree more with Alex Davis. This is the worst 'restaurant' I've ever been to in my life. The entire experience was a complete shambles from start to finish. I went with a party of 6 quite a while ago. We were the only ones in the restaurant (unsurprising, as it turned out) yet we waited over an hour for our meals. When the food finally arrived the two vegetarians among us were presented with a plate of lumpy meat in gravy that could easily have been mistaken for a can of Pedigree Chum. Incredibly, the breathtakingly incompetent waiter insisted we had ordered it and we had to argue to get them replaced! In short, everyone in the party thought the meals were disgusting, the service was hideous and the place was dirty. I would not go back to this restaurant if they paid me and to be frank I can't believe they have managed to stay in business. Keep well away! Alex Davis - 19th December 2007

The restaurant had a pleasant ambience, despite us being the only 2 people in there. The service at the start was excellent, however the experience in this restaurant soon deteriorated. Initially the drinks were brought to the table in small cartons that we had to pour for ourselves and the starters took 20 minutes to be served (this only consisted of a few vegetables and we were the only 2 people in the restaurant). When the starter arrived the sauce and vegetables were very nice and wetted the appetite for the main courses. Unfortunately this was false hope. When the mains arrived, they were hot and reasonably well presented, however the quality of the food was extremely poor and was very tasteless. My partner had the jerk chicken, which was over-cooked and tasted of gravy (probably Bisto out of a packet). The other main was a lamb stew. The lamb tasted okay but within the lamb dish itself were sharp fragments of bone mixed in with a side order of gristle. In reporting this to the waiter he said that this is how we serve the dish. He then said we could leave without paying. His attitude was offensive and didn't provide us with an alternative solution. We decided to leave and vowed never to return to such a poorly run restaurant and low quality food. In visiting many restaurants around the world (including kebab houses) this has to be the worst experience by far and a place to miss. Grant - 1st October 2006

I was part of a group of 11 celebrating a birthday in UK Mama in September 2006. The charismatic owner recommended a buffet, which was only £15 per head for starter, main, pudding and coffee. There was a varied mix of tasty dishes that included a lot of vegetarian options. There was plenty of it, and we washed it down with the cheapest house wine that I have ever seen £6.50! It tasted fine and at that price we ordered quite a few. The pudding was a massive plate of fresh fruit, cream and ice cream that we all helped ourselves to. After the meal the owner gave each of us a musical instrument (drums, percussion, a Xylophone etc..) and taught us how to play a rhythmic tune. A few more bottles of house red and then the limbo dancing started. The last person left at 1.30AM (we started at 9PM) and he wanted us to stay longer. There is certainly no danger of being ushered out at 11PM If you want to try some good value African food, drink cheap wine and end your evening with a really different sort of entertainment then you must try this. It was a great laugh. Sheffield Restaurant Guide makes every effort to ensure this information is up-to-date but we cannot guarantee its accuracy. |
